2002 v6 straight pipe?

So I wanted to make my v6 sound louder, and I've heard of people cutting right before the muffler (muffler delete) and just putting a piece of straight pipe on or just curving it to point down. I was wondering if this is a good idea. I know it will not pass inspection, I know it will be ignorantly loud, but for performance does it lower torque at all and does it mess with anything else like MPG or maybe HP? Another thing I was thinking of is cutting an exhaust off of a GT same model, but I didn't know if it would work or fit, it would be a stock 99-04 gt exhaust. Does that sound better? Thanks please let me know. Wanting to do this soon.

Some say you lose some down low and gain some up top. Others say you gain nor lose anything. It's gonna sound really bad your best bet is go with a chambered catback system like flow master. It wont be crazy loud but will give you a decent tone that wont make the cats scream

A buddy of mine has a 2003 mustang v6 with pypes o/r x pipe and flowmaster 40 catback with a mustang Gt rear bumper and its pretty loud and still has a nice rumble too it.
