2003 Mustang Cobra possible clutch problem

My Cobra supercharger does not engage due to what I've been told is a clutch issue. RPMs go up but power does not seem to be getting to the wheels and no boost. Driving normal there is no problem shifting gears and the clutch seems to engage. If I punch it a little I get a boost in RPMs, no boost and no speed pick up. Ford dealer said clutch assembly needs to be replaced. I can drive but miss the kick of the supercharger. Has anyone experienced this and did you replace the clutch assembly to fix the problem?
