Hey, in about 6 months to a year ill be selling my v6 and getting a GT... was wondering what year I should be looking for. 2004 or 2003? I was thinkin 04 due to the 40th anniversary edition, and abit more power correct ?

Shop around. Don't buy a 2004 just for the little extra hp. You can easily make that up with a few boltons..

Actually there is no hp difference in these years. And go for the 04 cuz its newer, or whichever one has less miles on it.

You're right... It was the V6 that went from a 3.8 to a 3.9 in 2004.

You should be able to find a nice Gt with low miles no problem. Personally, I'm not a fan of the 40th badges.

The 3.9L was used because Ford ran out of 3.8L. The 3.9L was the 3.9L from the Windstar with the Mustang intakes put onto it. The 3.9L is not any faster or better than the 3.8L and the extra 1/10th of a liter doesn't help it to gain power better or anything. Even when you stroke the 3.8/3.9 they both still come out to the 4.2L or the 4.3L if you use the crank and then bore the cylinders.It was just a cheap way for Ford to make the 2004 V6 people feel special about their Mustang's. lol

I would get the 2004 if I had my way but the 2003/2004's are all much better than the 1999-2002's anyway in my opinion. The 2004 does have those nice 40th anniversary badges and other good stuff.

what is better about the 03-04's than the 99-02's?

There is no difference in car between 03 and 04 other than cosmetics. I personally like my 03 because it just has GT badges. I am not a fan of the 40th anniversary emblems. 03-04's are better than 99-02 because Ford fixed the coolant crossover tube on the intake.

oh ok. i never really heard of any big differences between the two other than those that i saw with the 04's anniversary badges (im a bigger fan of the gt badges anyway)
