Hey,
I'm a new owner of a 2004 Mustang V6 coupe and i was wondering if there is anyway to disable traction control, even if i do not a switch that disengages traction control? For example is there any specfic things i can do during start up to disable traction control for that drive without getting a full custom ECU tune on my car. Thank-you, any ideas are appreciated

first off welcome to AFM :bigthumbsup

if you don't have the button to engage/disengage it by your shifter, i believe you don't have TC at all, does the green tire show up on your gague cluster if you try and burn out?

if you had traction control and abs in the car, there would be a button in the center console under your radio in front of the gear shifter, it would say trac off with a little light under it.. press that when the car is on, the orange light will light up, and traction control will be off until the car is turned off if its not there, then you dont have it to begin with

My car i know has ABS but i have no button to turn off traction control and i have looked for the tire on my gage cluster, but when i start to spin my tires it feels like some sort of TC is engaging because the power from my engine is cut until the tires re-engae. I might be out of luck but since i am a new mustang owner i figured i'd ask and see if there was anything i could do. Thanks for the responses

TC only is active when the light appears on dash, not to sound like an @$$ but it's a basically stock V6, it won't spin tires to easily hahaha trust me I know

Well Thanks for the help anyway, I'll have to check about the light on the dash tomorrow when i drive
It'll be to the right of the odometer/trip mileage, it's a green tire that's got lines coming out from under it like it's spinning up dirt.

its raining today so go driving today and make a right hand turn but step on the gas more than you would.. your right rear tire will spin, that will definitely engage TC and the light should light up... as far as not having a trac off button... that is very strange... i wonder.. are you sure you're not confusing "power loss" with wheel spin and loss of grip?... as far as i know you cant have ABS without having TC
