I am the proud owner of a 2004 SVT Cobra in Silver Metallic. The other day, I figured I would change both serpentine belts, as they were getting worn. I could not, for the life of me, get the accessory drive belt on, and ended up having the Cobra towed to the dealership.

The dealer is now telling me that they have to pull the pulley on the crank to change the belts? I have never heard of such a thing! Why would they have to pull the pulley just to change a belt?

Is there something amiss here? Is the dealer trying to pull a fast one?

With all the Cobra's out there, I find it hard to believe that the crank pulley would have to be pulled to change the serpentine belts!

Any input on this?

Thanks!

Bob

all you should need to do is have someone hold the tensioner so you have extra slack to work with while routing the belt. they are trying to squeeze money out of you. i did mine in like 30 seconds, granted i don't have a cobra, but i do have a supercharger.
