mines still intact...suprisingly
i dont see how it could be :nogrinner it is something to keep a eye on for sure.mines still intact...suprisingly
thats a great price stl, and if i would have been smarter, i would have posted about the pulley when i noticed it looking bad( when i took the pic) instead of waiting till it came apart. i could have had it changed before and saved a few bucks. i guess i was in denial that it was really coming apart on a low milage motor and just how fast it would fail.:embarrassedWow that's bad! A new one is $129.13 from Bob Utter Genuine Ford Parts www.bobutterfordparts.com
well, i dont know. its the rubber inside the hub that goes bad. a few other guys have had the exact same problem. the new one does have a rubber coating over the entire face though. so you might be right about that and fords saw the problem and changed it. maybe its just the 05`s. ive run the car hard on occasions, combined with water and rust getting inside it, thats what did it in. i dont know what you could coat it with :scratchchinJust went out and checked mine. At 37,000 KM it looks fine, hopefully it stays that way.
It's possible your new one came with a rubber face specifically to protect the ring from drying out and decaying....perhaps the rest of us can follow the example by applying something to protect our good balancers.
i kinda touched on how to do it in the 1st post. the bolt is set back inside so far it was a pain to try to get off. have to come up with some spacers to go behind the puller. no idea what they charge to do it.:happyhapp Hello, New here but i got a problem. My wifes mustang's cranshaft pulley is DUNN SON!. Does anyone know how much the stealership will charge to replace this part. I need to like asap , im thinkin of doing this myself. thank whom ever :happyhapp
yep, i tried to tell you,lol....its a simple part ( 1 bolt and line up the keyway) and something that anyone could do, but its a challenge.ONE BIG pay in the ASS!:bigthumbsup
welcome to the forums. i agree, this is a bad parts problem, and i just threw my broken one out. maybe i should have kept it but oh well. i`m sure fords is doing alot of them under warenty, which i didnt have so it was just parts for me and a few hours. its not just the mustangs like you said. the one ford mech told me the trucks and some other cars were coming apart too. i had a 88 ford f250 for 14 yrs, 310,000 miles and never had that happen. but good luck trying to get anything out of fords. i`m a ford guy through and through, but it does look bad :soThis is not only a Mustang issue, I have a 2004 Sport Trac with the 4.0 and just had mine replaced at the dealership for $500, it seems this is a parts manufacturing issue and needs to be addressed by Ford. If I were a Ford top dog I would make the pulley manufacture pay for all the repairs, this makes Ford look bad to it's customers.
Oh wow, that looks nasty. At least it went in instead of out to the radiator. Probably have to replace the crank sensor too. umm, ... in case I wasn't clear, yes it's separated.:?:Can someone look at the attached pics and tell me if this pulley is seperated:?: I dont have anything to compare it to other than the pictures on this thread. Thanks for any help. :worship
