3654 Views 22 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  avery_012
installed the blue 10 led dome light bulbs. pretty cool. but right away i noticed at night once they are on, and then go off,,there is still the slightest bit of blue light coming from like one of the leds that stays there for a while before it finaly goes off. is that normal? its really not a problem but was wondering if anyone else experience that?

i`ll take some as it gets dark today. they are cool :)
i have two silver led lights overhead and they stay on almost indefinatly, i think its because the resistance of hte LED is so low that the flow of electricity going to the light just keeps it on very low
well, my camera ( which is not the best) didnt capture it too well. the intensity is a bit more than the pics show, but not overwhelming at all. its a nice light and looks awesome in the dark, even through the limo tint which wouldnt come out on the camera.

got them installed also and noticed it. I also read about it before actually installing them and it seems to be completely normal. I haven't had any problems and seems no one else has.

h/o lemme reach up my ass and pull out a reason why.

Ford may have thought ahead of time and had a small amount of power going through the lights at all time so they don't pop due to cold weather. LED's need less energy hence why you can see them on slightly when they are not actually on.

ok going to bathroom to wash off my hand now. :D

I really want to do these... But can you still read stuff at night when you need too??? :scratchchin

they put out a pretty fair amount of lite. you might want to take a chance for under 20.00. i tried some regular colored bulbs first, they did not put out enough lite to read by. btw ive got a a/c warming unit you might want for cheap :gringreen

To be honest the ones i got are brighter then my factory ones. The problem is its all blue so it kinda throws your eyes off when trying to read.

I'm gonna probably pull the trigger on these after I get a few more expensive REAL mods done... I keep buying a bunch of little stuff & it's holding my back from the GOOD stuff! :D

And god, I hope you were kidding amr... Phoenix is HELL right now... 116 today... :so :frustrated::head_shot:

Well as you probably know, I think I have the most LED lights on here, and yes they all stay on all the time because of the low resistance. It's like you can just barely see them at night, at first I thought it was a problem, but then I looked into it. Preston, check out superbrightleds.com for the bulbs. They have a ton of different colors.

Thanks for the link, Avery! :)

What specific "LED kit" am I looking for?
It's not a kit, it's the bulbs. Here is a more specific one for you.

Any of the 194 wedge base bulbs will fit. If you want interior lighting check out my semi-write up on that.

These are bulbs i went with. If i got off my lazy ass i'll try and snap a picture for ya to try and give ya an idea of brightness. Didn't really search to heavily hard on price but they come 2x in a pack there.
heres some better pics of what the light colors look like on this ebay page. this is where i got mine. you`d have to check the sellers store maybe cause this is the page i bought them off.

Hey amr or anyone else who may know...

I have the factory ambient lighting. I really like how there are 7 different colors you can select... Is there any way I could add more multi-color bulbs to this package... I.e. in the speaker boxes, under seats, etc???

That would be so cool... :)

Yep, just find where the wires go into the back of one of the bulbs and splice off. Red is hot, black is ground. Then just connect them to any 194 wedge base reciever and go crazy.

I don't believe you can with factory setup to be honest. From any thread i saw its a $300 dollar option due to the way the bulbs and the center console's "light ring". Its definitely not a simple "just swap the bulb" type job.

Like the post above me said if you cut the wires and put some neons in there sure but you'll be stuck with that color. I say don't do it.

:headscratch:

I currently have the ambient lighting $300 package in my Mustang. My question was "could I hook up more LEDs to this package"? It seems perfectly possible...

But the real question is, where am I going to find bulbs that match those 7 colors??? :scratchchin

Should I go directly to Ford??? :headscratch: :headscratch: :headscratch:
