2005+ Mustang. Getting to UCA with driveshaft out.

The DS is easy to drop, at the rear flange. Would it be easier to swap out the UCA by doing that, than by loosening the gas tank and all that?

Are you switching just the UCA or the UCA and the bracket? If you are just doing the arm, you can see if you can unbolt it while it's still in the brace. An impact wrench should do the trick.

If you are removing the brace, the tank will have to be dropped. Just make sure it's empty or near empty because it will have to come down about 5-6 inches. A 16 gallon tank can be heavy, trust me. :hihi:
Dropping the d/s isn't going to help any wiht the bracket. It may, howerver, provide greater access to the UCA itself.
My Steeda UCA does not come with a bracket... (I think!) so I presume it uses the old one. When I saw this pic, on Leonard Racing Products about installing the one piece shaft, I thought "That looks an awful lot like the stock UCA! And I can see all the bolts!" Also, that set of directions, I believe, is a bunch of photos of my actual shaft. The paint smears look identical. My shaft is almost as famous as John Holmes'.

Ron Leonard (who has awesome customer service) advised me to only change one thing at a time so any weird noises can be found easier but this is going to turn into one of those "as long as I'm in there" days.

Man, air tools rule. However, my big, honkin' impact wrench has an extended arbor (great for deep dish wheels) so it may not fit. But those don't look like 200 ft.lb. bolts so a 3/8" air ratchet (also a wonderful gift from God, for working on regular nuts, in tight spaces!) should be able to squeeze in there. If not, Harbor Freight provided me with a set of 1/2" impact u-joints and extensions. I can generally fanagle something!

However, good luck using a bunch of u-joints and getting an accurate torque reading, when re-tightening!

Agree that the UCA bracket is really not needed. The stocker is just fine.
Yep, I dragged it out and there is no bracket so the tank can stay where it is, right? Naturally it's full now but it's also still snowing so not only is the driveway ice cold, it's also wet. Not workign on the car, this weekend.

Yay! Time to stay in and not work on the car. What's that? Beer? Tequila? Mmmm, tequila is sooooo good for me! With added vitamins and minerals, it's like a tonic.
