2567 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  stlwagon
when i startup my mustang everyday there is a very short grinding noise. It only last for like a second. i just recently changed the oil and the problem stopped for a day but now it has returned. is is starved for oil or something, im worried that it will cause some internal damage down the road.

Unless it's the starter that's failing. Does it do it on every start, or just the first start of the day?
it usually does it if its been sitting for awhile. at first i thought that it was only on a cold start but every once and a while it will do it even if i just turned it off 5 mins before. do you think it could be the starter.

Sounds like the starter to me. Probably a good idea to take it in.
if i took it into a ford dealership, even if it was out of warranty, would they tell me what the problem was
It might be the bendix not sliding on the shaft fast enough. It might just need lubing.
