2005 Mustang GT and SCT Tuner help...

1840 Views 19 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  BigRed247
Hey guys. I have an 05 Mustang GT and am thinking about running the SVT tuner on my car. I work at a dealership and a guy traded in an 07 Mustang GT that came with many upgrades along with the tuner. Can I hook this up to my car? Do I have to clear the other car first or clear the other one and then swap computers? The biggest difference is that mine is a 5 speed and the other one is an automatic.

The key is to ensure the tuner is unlocked. To do so you'll need to return the other car to the stock calibration. The tunes on there won't work but you can easily get some that will.
make sure the traded car dont need the tune, example, it has a jlt cai....then u cant sell teh cart with out replaceing items
Good point... What are the mods on the other car?
Bolt ons except for the audio system. It came with the computer, larger wheels, and a muffler thats now on my car. The one that no one was exactly sure what it was earlier. No real work under the hood.
Nope. None on the other car and if I end up using the tuner then I'll pick up a Steeda CAI for mine probably...
Just load the stock tune back to that car and you should be good to go with it on your car.
Agree... Other car should run fine on the OEM calibration.

Tunable Induction can help you...all the way.

The '07 GT SCT Tuner is locked and mated to that car and set to run with the original CAI it came with. To unlock you must hook up and reverse the tunes...load stock tune from SCT back into GT, and GT SCT tune back into the handheld.

Tunable Induction has the coolest flowing, largest MAF housing (95mm) available for '05-'09 GT's, at less $$. We use SCT tuners, so we can reprogram yours to match your TI '05 CAI, if not locked. www.tunableinduction.com

Stay away from metal CAIs, they heat soak "alot" and defeat the purpose of getting cooler air to your engine, and the MAF housing is less then 95mm, less air flow, less HP & mpg.

Ok. So after I set the other car to stock, should I go to like americanmuscle.com and purchase the 3 custom tunes?

That's BS. JLT has a composite one bigger than yours :hihi:
JLT Carbon Fiber 110mm CAI (2005-09 Mustang GT) *Tuning Required [CFCAI-FMG-0509] - $399.00 : JLT PERFORMANCE, Home of the JLT TRUE COLD AIR KIT

They are a good choice and so is Brenspeed.com. I think Brenspeed's package is $25 cheaper. You really don't need the three Octanes unless you are going to run all three. I opted for the $75 single tune from Brenspeed.

Tunable Induction CAI & SCT Tuners...

Yes, I stand corrected. JLT just came out with a carbon fiber 110mm maf housing @ $399. Designed for 350HP+ Mustangs. It will work on a stock set up but, stock TB opening is less the 110mm and only so much air will pass thru. If you want an ABS, 95mm CAI at only $199 check us out. Contact us anytime for your SCT questions and retunes. Thx

What would happen if I tried to see if I could put on a pre-loaded tune? All I've done so far was reset it and hook it up to my car to see if it read my VIN.
The base SCT tunes should work. Don't try to load a custom tune if there are any on the device.
Ok. Yeah, I'm in the whole experimenting phase. I hooked it up to the computer then inserted the disc and for some reason it wont load the hardware. Under the custom tunes it has 07 GT 93+ abd 07 GT BBK so I won't mess with it.
Sounds like custom tunes which are PCM-specific. Best to zeroize the device and start fresh with some custom tunes written specifically for your PCM calibration.
Tunable SCT Help

I called Brenspeed and they told me that they will not write a tune for me until I had a Steeda CAI and not a plastic MAF w/90mm...

Go to JDM Engineering and they will write you a killer tune...

I just updated the firmware and tune revision. Is there anything that I can throw on the car until I go through american muscle and become a member?
