ohhh, now you tell me :so well, thats ok. it cost me 40.00 more but i have the part here. only thing is, it sure doesnt look like the one i have. i`m heading out to try and get it off, then i should know. the one on the car has a wide aluminum gear behind the pulley for the crank sensor. this new one has a thin stamped metal ring behind it.

yep, i have to agree 100%. this took 5 times as long to do as my old dodge 4x4. it went last year at about 265,000 miles. the mustang lasted 60,000 :so
Do you want an underdrive pulley or a regular one?
hey stl, thanks for that link. thats a good place and great prices. if i wasnt trying to get it done tonight( dd ya know) i would have gone that route. i had just enough time to make it to 2 ford dealers to get the pulley and the bolt.

if you happen to read this, whats a good place for the underdrive pulleys for the V6?

heres a pic a few weeks ago, i thought the rubber ring was looking bad. and a pic of the thing apart, definetly bad. the new ford replacement looked different but i didnt get a pic in the heat of battle.

I wasn't so lucky when mine came apart. I was at the track doing runs. I racked in a 1/4 @ 12.7 and then all the sudden I heard major squeaking coming from under the hood. Popped her open only to find this :happyhapp

oh man, bummer big time. i was lucky that i made it home. i posted this in the v6 tech forum cause its a dangerous problem if you were cruising a hillside or in heavy traffic and it came apart and lost steering and brakes. or like you a real bummer away from home. mine was squeeling too so i turned on the ac compressor and it kept it together( and stopped the squeel) and babied it till i got home. i knew it was going a few weeks ahead but i thought it would last longer. my mistake for others to learn by. if it looks bad, it is bad and you need to address it right away.
