2005 Mustang v6 with 125,00km yay or nay?

Hi guys,

I can get this for about $9000. It's got 125,000km on it, interior upgrade, Traction Control and manual transmission. It's black and it's got leather. I could finance a 2012 Mustang with Performance Package for around 30 grand, or I could pay cash and get the older one and be done with it!

I would appreciate hearing your thoughts.

Thanks.

You're talking about two completely different beasts here. What are you looking for in the car?
If you can pay cash, it is nice to not have a payment. On the other hand, if you put $9,000 down and get a good rate the payment should'nt be that bad. Like stated already, they are completely different cars, go with the one that fits you best.
I would like to buy a car that has some muscle with a manual transmission that looks cool (to me at least!) to have some fun with. I really like the styling changes in the 2010+ models and I'm also quite impressed with the engine performance improvements for the 2011+ models. So that's why I was considering a 2012 v6 with the Performance Package. And that's because the GT would be totally out of my price range. So I'm thinking why not make it even easier on myself and start with this ~$9000 2005 (125,000km) that I found. maybe spend a couple or so grand on making the suspension stiffer and maybe some 19inch rims. hmm?
If you applied that 9k to the 12' you would have a really good note. Plus new car, body style (sounds like you prefer more), no miles, hp gain, mpg gain, and a bunch of interior and little exterior upgrades. I say go for the 12'!
You put that down on a 2012 sixer and you won't owe near 30K

What I would personally suggest is looking for a used 11 or 12 GT with super low miles going around the $30-$32 range and put the nine g's down on that!
Or even as Chris said, shop around and you could find a nicely equipped GT premium in the low 30's. A 9k down payment gives you good buying power. Salesmen will see that and wanna work out a good deal ( in most cases ). Either way, man, you're getting a mustang! 05 or 12 v6 or v8. Just don't rush into buying it. Think it through and make your decision with precision. :bigthumbsup

Yep. When I was out car shopping I found a dealership that had a 2011 gt premium with 3k miles on it for 30k. Unfortunately I didn't have much of a down payment and couldn't afford to finance that much :(
I'd say for the sake of your interest rate if you choose a newer stang get a demo 11' bc your interest rate will be a good chunk on used compared to new.
In my opinion life is more than the car. The 2005 will be a cool car that you can enjoy while doing other cool things like going to the movies or a concert with your friends. The 11 or 12 will be a good size payment even with 9gs down. Will you be putting off normal things like........eating for example to pay the car payment? I have been there its not fun to have a cool car but not afford to put gas in it. If you can afford the newer car and still have money to do stuff then go that route.
In my opinion the 05 to 09 cars are cheap, fun, and look hella cool.
Buy used...let someone else take the beating. I have never made payments on a vehicle because in the end you pay about twice for it.....

Good luck !
I think at this point I let the old car go. Lets order a new V6! (with the performance package (and the glass roof??)) GT would be too much for me I think. 305hp would definitely do the trick (right now at least ...until I hear the GT calling :yelwacko:)
I test drove a automatic 2011 six about a year ago and it does get up and go. So I of course imagine you will gain even more performance from a manny tranny.
Just curious what did the Original Poster end up deciding? Did you buy the 05??? or put the $$ down. Me personaly i was in the same boat as you. I baught an 05. Candy apple red with only 91k on it... ONLY because the deal was unbeatable. $8,000. and it was taken care of. Im happy i did and dont have too make payments now. I'd say due to the high mileage get it severely looked over and if its worth it pull the trigger. Just as the others said. Its no fun having a nice @$$ Mustang if you cant take road trips, cant afford Mods, Gas ect. Ive been there before. :nono:
