2005 Shaker 500 Upgrade?

Hi i have a 2005 mustang, the stero isnt bad, but doesnt have an auxilery or usb for an ipod. I have a pretty decent fm transmitter, but its still gets staticky, and the volume doesnt seem to be as high as when its the normal radio. Does anyone know what I can do to beef up the system with out changing the head unit, as i still want the stock appearence. Will an amp and a trunk speaker work? Also has anyone seen those fm transmitters, that gets a hard wired switch on your dash that actually disables the radios antenna when the switch is on? Do those work good?

Any suggestions would be appreciated, Im sure im not the only person out there unsatisfied with the stock system when using an ipod.

you can add a sub in the trunk. they make a few custom boxes for the 05+ stangs. when i did mine i had it jus wired into the back speakers and mounted the amp on the back seat. the shaker 500 sounds great imo but i wanted something extra like you to now i love my sound. the fm transmitters are junk i would just change the head unit. heres a old pic of my speaker i got a jl audio speaker an amp now .

Hey I had a Shaker 500 but I switched mine out for a factory Nav unit. It still retains all of the shaker 500 features as far as stereo so its not much different. But when I added my nav a bought a Peripheral PXAMG Ipod interface unit to go inside my dash. It works GREAT. It has the normal Ipod connect cable that you can run through your console and you'll never see it plus it charges the ipod! The sound quality is amazing and since I have the shaker system I have the extra bass in the doors. I feel that there is enough bass in the 500 system that you wont need anymore, but hey whatever works for you :)
