2006 Mustang ECT sensor

Hello I was wondering if anyone has seen this issue before? When I run the car after a while depending on the stop and go, it will push the coolant back through the coolant jug. I had the thermostat replaced to no success (Yes I had to pay through the nose at a Ford shop). I was then told by a family member about the ECT sensor. The temp gauge never reads hot. Could this ECT sensor be the issue? Thanks.

Not sure about the ECT sensor... however if hot coolant is getting back to your overflow (hich is connected to the radiator), then hot coolant is getting back to your radiator (via an open thermostat).

Usually the reason overflows overflow is because of a bad radiator cap. I would invest in that $3 part before looking for other issues.
There may be air trapped in the cooling sys., possibly in the heater core. The temp gauge uses the engine coolant temp sender for its info, not the sensor. The sensor is what the ECT is and this is what the on board computor uses for its info.

You need to find out if there has been a technical service bulletin (TSB) issued for this problem. I'm surprised that the Ford dealer that you went to only replaced the thermostat and didn't further investigate the problem. Maybe try another dealer.
