2006 Mustang GT possible transmission issue

1786 Views 23 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  GunsnStangs
A little over 96,000 mi and pretty much no major repairs.

Recently noticed under light acceleration, pushing in the clutch there is what would sound like taking a brick and scrape across the cement for a second.

There is throttle hesitation and a roaring sound.

It's currently at the dealership and they are recommending dropping the transmission to investigate.

Thoughts or someone with a similar experience?

Thanks in advance

I figured as much but I wanted to make sure.
Your engine is consuming oil and if it burned up 3 or more quarts since your last oil change it's at an abnormally high rate. Also, if you heard your engine making strange sounds during the time you drove it with dangerously low oil you definitely did some degree of damage to the internals.

I'm surprised the low oil pressure light did not come on. Nonetheless I babied to hell out of it during this time and hopefully didn't do too much damage.

Strange how you could burn so much oil and not notice any smoke, bearing knock or low oil pressure. If you don't have a magnetic drain plug already installed, I'd put one in after that abuse.
