I bought a Valentine V1 a few months ago and I want to use the included wiring supplies to wire it directly to the car's electrical instead of having to use the cigarette lighter port and have cords hanging all around.
Anyone have any tips for doing this or seen a how-to guide for this procedure around?
Just run the positive wire to one of the ACC fuses. If you don't want to run it directly into the box, you can use a fuse tap. Then all you need to do is run the ground wire to one of the bolts under your dash. This way, your RD will come on when you start your car.
*see attached pictures. first pic is a fuse tap installed on the fuse box, second is the actual fuse tap.*
so what do i need to remove? just the gauge cluster? i want to run the cord between the dash and the windshield in the center of the dash where the RD will be mounted.
You can run the wiring through the air vent on the dash. I found a killer install guide that shows step by step exactly how to run the wiring from the dash to the fuse box. Check it out
Or mount the unit high on the windshield and wire it into the dome lights.
