Hey guys, im new to the forum and i have a 06 satin silver pony package.. I already have the pypes dual exhaust kit (which i experienced no drone with..) and im looking for a new mod for my car. Its my first car and im in highschool so money is tight since all mods to my car are done by money i make. My car is also a manual. i sometimes have trouble shifting gears.. could this be my tranny fluid? Or is it just the way the T5 is? My family have owned the car since it was new so it was never abused. Thanks!
if your looking for mods check crieges list i got ford racing lowering springs for 100 and a ford racing cai and ford tuner (brand new) for 150
soo yah
Thanks guys! Well I've been checking Craigslist and there isn't really anything there... I do have another question though. If I do get the cai and tunera combo, what will be the power increase with the 87 octane tune? That's all I can do for right now.. so im just debating if it would even be worth it since I have a manual tranny and will only run 87. What are your thoughts?
it has been awhile since I ordered a tune so I didn't remember a price difference between an 87 tune and a 91 tune. I guess if you got the 91 tune it would only be about $.10 a gallon more in gas or about a $1.70 a tankful.
Or a big Mac combo meal..lol
The HP will increase noticeably right away. Maybe 25HP plus an increase in torque also.Again an immediate result.
So if there is no difference in the cost of the tune I would go for the 91 or get to two for one package deal both 87 and 91.
Yeah on American muscle they have a combo with three custom tunes. So If I would ever use the 91 tune I'd use the race tune. I just hope its worth it. What would the 0-60 of a 4.0 with full bolt ons? (I know 0-60 means nothing since you don't race to a certain speed... I just wanna use it to see the difference since a stock 5 speed can do it in like the mid six)
not sure what a 0-60 would be.. if I were you, I'd go with a tuner combo from AM. Or possibly finding a used GT axle with a better gear ratio.. more wallet friendly if you decide to make it a total beast later on
I mean I'm employed at autobell and trying to save up for a supercharger... I'm just still debating if its even worth it because my car in a year won't be worth as much and I don't want to dump like a fourth of the value of my car. I won't be selling it soon either.
Nice, your in high school too. The CAI and tune is amazing. I have the BBK CAI with the SCT tuner. Best money ever spent. Difference is like night and day. How many miles do you have on it?
well I would say its worth the money. I have had mine now for a few years and it still makes me smile when I jump on it. (auto trans). I did the regular xcharger at first because they didnt have the intercooler version. Then when it came out I got that. I was able to do all the work myself, pretty easy, which made it more "worth "it. The thing is a lot of money no doubt. I guess if your intending to keep the car for awhile its a good thing, but as with any speed equipment you'll never get your money back out of it.
One plus,,,the insurance on the V6 is less than the V8 but an X charged V6 is still a v6...
Haha I know what you mean to be honest I really do like the sound of the v6 in my car... Call me crazy. In my eyes the v6 and the Gt are different. I don't really compare them. I like the high pitched tuner sound it makes (well compared to a Gt). I love the Gt but I am only 16 and insurance is a lot more for me. Plus I put a lot of work into it and I can't sell it because I'm just too attached to it. All I really want to do is to improve the driving experience. So if a tune and Cai can help then ill just go with that route. It's just my friend has a supercharged svt focus and the whine is awesome :gringreen
What most V6 owners do: A "larger then stock" cold air intake & maf housing w/SCT Tuner Combo. Tunable Induction's are USA quality & value @ $189 CAI (black), $529 SCTuner Combo. Then, free up the exhaust with a GT or GT500 take off muffler or replace single exhaust to duals, replace rear lower control arms/bushings to eliminate wheel hoop and put traction to the ground, then rear gears to make her quicker. Check our Dyno section on website & facebook customer pics & comments. Free shipping @ USA. :winks
Any cold air intake "larger" then stock requiring an SCT tuner will produce similar gains. Of the 3, FRPP has the lowest rwhp gains, Tunable Induction & JLT are similar. Differences are in the size of intake pipe/maf meter, materials used for cool, straight, smooth flowing air, & most importantly aggressiveness of tunes. TI CAI are popular due to their sleekness, air flow, SCT 93 octane performance tune, & if painted to match car we're the only ones that paint complete CAI including filter heat shield. Check out our Dyno Chart on website w/Bama Tunes testimonial and our facebook for customer testimonials & install pics.
Karma, I have virtually the EXACT set up that Ken from Tunable Induction is talking about.
His CAI, with a 93 race tune, lower control arms, and a GT Takeoff muffler, were the first things I did. the control arms were 100 bucks, the muffler was 70, shipped. The whole car feels INCREDIBLY different and so so much better. The xcharger is amazing, and you'll always hear the guys that have them be positive about it, but if you're just looking for some extra pep out of it, the CAI and tune will do it. You wont feel like you're driving the same car. And it's not a lot of cash.
I think I might go down that route. It's just if I do get a X-charger, my Cai will be useless and the X-charger already has its own tuner. So I'm just trying to sort things out. Plus I already have a dual exhaust set up
If you get a tuner and CAI now you can buy the Xcharger without the tuner and get a tune to upload to your SCT.
And is it worth it? Every time I get on the gas to merge into traffic yes! With the hood open it attracts attention because it is unique and not "just another modded Mustang".
At the track - can't beat the sound of the Xcharger making a pass and surprising the Camaro and Firebirds with mid 12's.
Yeah I love the looks of it... If were to get it I would install it myself. It's just convincing my parents to let me spend all that money for it. They offered for me to sell it in the future and let me use that money and some that I have saved up to buy a Supra... (Second favorite car). But I'm just not interested in selling it. I just love Mustangs more :gringreen
