Ladies and gentlemen, need a little advice here. I got an '06 GT. It has the Flowmasters and the stock air filter has been replaced by the K&N. My question is, I see that they have a K&N cold air intake out there that supposedly you can just "bolt on". True or false? What kind of horsepower can I expect from this addition along with the flowmaster Super 40's that I already have on it? I am a new guy to the Mustang community and I want to do things the right way. I am looking to the "experience" for some advice. All opinions and advice is appreciated. Thanks.

You might get 8-10 rwhp from it. The key is to combine the intake with the appropriate custom tune to take advantage of the increased airflow. Surf around here for awhile and you'll quickly figure out what the popular intakes & tuners are.

Try ordering a CAI from Bamachips with a tuner. They sell them in combinations and you get a free tune when you do that. Its a more expensive because you get a tuner too but its an easy mod that gives you a great gain in power.

Hey, my buddy has an 07 GT and said the K&N CAI alone made very little difference compared to one's that consists of and CAI and Tune combo. I would save up for a tuner if possible, it brings out the most of your stang with a CAI, especially on the S197's.

K&N claims that its CAI is supposed to work without a tune, but there have been user reports indicating that it can excessively lean out the A/F mixture. And that's not good for the engine.

I have the K&N CAI, they work fine without a tune I used it for a month then I installed the diablo tune, and wow what a difference!! the K&N came with a dyno chart indicating a max 16 RWHP gain. it's nice easy installation however I'd suggest getting a C&L or JLT with a tuner. definitely much better.
BTW as I recall there was two types the typhoon and aircharger. I have the aircharger

I didn't notice a big difference when i got my K&N but i did notice that the rear wheels tried to break loose more on a hard 1-2 shift which i guess means an increase in power. Makes a great sound and improved my gas mileage by about 2-3 mpg. I will be investing in a tuner shortly to enhance the benefits of the CAI even more.
