2006 Mustang V6 Automatic Crank No Start

I've tried logical thinking and the parts canon. Nothing has helped. This was an auction buy, so I have no idea when it last ran, or what was wrong.

Looking for any reasonable suggestions.
  • Cranks, but never even hiccups
  • One OBD error: Cylinder 4 Fuel Injector error
  • Was getting a "fuel pump driver module" error; replaced it and error cleared
  • 30-40 psi fuel pressure at the rail (according to OBD reader); pulled fuel line and see fuel flow
  • Power to the plugs; new ignition coil anyway
  • Throttle opens and closes with pedal
  • Replaced the throttle position sensor
  • Replaced the crank position sensor
  • Have to use the shift lever release to get it to shift out of park, but the brake lights come on with the brake pedal and it won't crank unless in park or neutral, so I don't THINK its a neutral safety switch or a brake switch
  • Figured maybe the ECU was not pulsing the injectors: replaced with used ECU, programmed new keys, no flashing security light after program and cranks, still no still no start

When I first got it, I did try starter fluid and got nothing. Haven't tried it again with a new ECU.

Not sure if the one injector error could be an issue, where it hits one and doesn't try the others, as if the harness is failed or something.

One bad injector won't keep it from starting or even two for that matter.
Is the antitheft light on or blinking rapidly?
How have you tested for actual voltage to the plugs?
You need to test the injectors for ground pulse from the PCM. They should always have 12v but as you crank the engine the PCM should pulse the ground to each injector. Do this with a test light or noid light.
There's a very good chance that the SJB(Ford's BCM/GEM) is the problem. If it malfunctions then it can disable PATS and/or also kill communication between the PCM and the instrument cluster.
Buying a used PCM is a risk. You should always just send out any modules that you already have to get them tested and if needed fixed by a reputable automotive module repair service. Automotive Circuit Solutions, Autoecm, Upfix, and Module Master all seem to be reliable module repair services to use from people posting about them on here and have good reviews.
There are common water intrusion issues with the 2005-09 Mustang that can lead to water on/in the SJB. There's a TSB that Ford released that describes these areas and the fixes for them: tsb08-26-07.pdf (mygtcs.com). The 2005-14 Mustangs all have a tendency to have the cowls clog up with leaves/debris and then overflow thru the fresh air vent into the HVAC system in the passenger compartment and then onto the SJB.
If the SJB has ever gotten wet then it can cause corrosion and/or a malfunction that may require repair or in worst cases replacement. Good ones are in short supply so I recommend that you send yours out for testing and repair.
