I have a 2006 v6 auto that rattles when sitting still. It seems to only do it while the car is in gear. There is an audible rattle that sounds like it is on the driver's side of the engine bay. However I can also feel the vibration in the brake pedal. It seems worse when the AC or my headlights are on.

I took it to the repair shop and they said the idle was too low and bumped it up to 700 rpm. It didn't help.

I have the BBK cold air intake and thought maybe that was the problem, but I recently got an SCT tuner and the rattle/vibration hasn't gone away. Also I put foam strips between anywhere that the CAI could conceivably hit metal and make noise (wheel well, brake lines, etc) and still no good.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks!

when you put it in gear the engine torques a little to the drivers side from the resistance of the brakes.. look for possible things that it might hit.. dont limit yourself to look at what you already think it is.. look for alternatives this is the 79-04 v6 section so we generally deal with a different kind of v6 than you have.. im trying to solve your problem using a limited amount of knowledge of your motor.. so i suggest asking the same question in the 05+ v6 section some of the guys in there will have more experience with your year
