2008 Mustang GT Shaker Hood intall

I;ve been thinking about getting the shaker hood set up. My car has the GT appearance package (chrome exh tips-which are going, engine cover and non-functional hood scoop). The hood scoop looks to have a wider and longer footprint than the shaker so the bolt and clip holes will be too far out for the trim that goes on the hood cut out. Other than a hood change has anyone with the GT appearance package done this mod yet?

I believe you may have to get a new hood. From previous threads I seem to remember that the cut-out is wider than the shaker & the holes will not cover. I have the shaker & except for the appearance, there is only minimal performance advantage unless you mate it into a CAI which wil require a bit of fabrication to utilize it.

The hood swap may have to happen. It seems odd to me that no one makes a snap in cover to compensate cars that have the fake scoop to convert to the shaker. Even if the trim is fairly wide it should not look to much of an eye sore. If anything the shaker hood would look for spot lighted. Sort of like a center piece.

you dont need a new hood!!!!!! i have one if you start your cut small and work to bigger . there is a trim that covers the cut so you cant see the marks made. then there are 4 hoses that trickel down for water. i will warn you its a pain in the @ss to wrok on your car. i am in the process of hooking up nitrous and i keep having to take it off. and if you have a aftermarket cai you have to make special cuts. good luck. p.s. there is no gain performance wise. all decoration

i love the shakker hood scoop myself. i would have gone with it instead of my roush, but it just ended up costing far too much money and the install would have been expensive as well.

Good input...thanks!. Did your car have the stamped factory scoop?
I was thinking once the cut is made it will be to far in from the fake scoops holes for the trim to cover them? How bad is regular routine maintance work? Does the car at least feel somewhat more peppy since air is force into the air box verses relying solely on engine vacuum? Just curious. I figured it was more appearance than anything since the factory box us reused.

It does not cover the holes from the factory scoop. From CDC's website: PLEASE NOTE: CDC'S TRIM RING DOES NOT COVER THE FACTORY HOOD SCOOP HOLES (07 FACTORY HOOD SCOOP)
I talked with a couple of mustang conversion places locally and they mentioned the same thing. They intensionally only bring in cars without the Appearance package then mod them-send back to FORD for sale. Oh well, it was a nice thought. The shaker would look gorgeous against the vapor color hood. Plan B
CAI/Tune..
