Anyone have any helpful tips about beefing up a 200 straight 6? I'm looking at putting in a cam, duel exhaust, 2bbl carb, and electronic ignition. I'd rather not put in a V-8, because I'm keeping this car mostly original, but I'd still like to have a little bit of power.

let it breathe!

It sounds as though you are on the right track with your planned mods, however, I might suggest that you work with the heads a bit. Clean up those ports a little and do a gasket match port job. The idea here is to clean up the port walls...not change thier volume, so don't go and hog out a bunch of material. The intakes should be rough so that you don't have fuel atomization issues and the exhaust needs to fit the profile of your header flange, leaving a 1/16th inch material all the way around (your port will be smaller than your header) to create a slight anti-reversionary effect. This will help that restrictive 6 popper head to flow so that the rest of your mods work. If you are running an automatic transmission. You may want to increase the stall speed of the torque converter too.

Anyone know any good online places for 200ci parts? I already know of Clifford Performance and Ford Six Performance Parts and the obvious ebay. Anyone out there already fixed up a Ford Inline 6?
I just finnished building as 200 six for my 67 mustang a great place besides Clifford is Ford Performance Parts at http://www.fordsixparts.com/ I got my cam and headers through them. Also the first thing I did was trade your old head in on a remanufactured head for a 1983 Ford Farmont 200 six. As you can get one for $150 with exchange from Auto Zone. This will get you a larger intake manifold larger valves and hardened seats. This is cheaper than and easier than reworking the orignal. I will add to this later as my lunch time is over now.
