I have a 2010 V6 base convertible... and with the top down, driving down the highway its kinda hard to hear..!!
I would like to obtain an original shaker stereo and swap it out, along with the speakers... is this possible..?
Anybody try this..? I checked the past forums and didn't see anything...???

It is possible, however an aftermarket radio would sound just as good if not better than the stock shaker. You can upgrade your speakers and stereo cheaper then installing a shaker normally as well.

It sounds like you have something other than a Shaker in there now. Am I correct? If your head unit is not currently a Shaker, someone already did the workaround for the subs or they have replaced them. Shakers send 5V to the subs rather than the 12V replacement units send. You get a loud pop if a converter isn't used. I'm not sure if a Shaker will work with replacement subs requiring 12V.

I have the very basic radio they put in the mustang... no sign of a sub.. just very poor quality speakers in the doors and sides...! I was just wanting something better, but i didn't want to ruin my dash panel if you know what i mean, making it look cheap....

There are some pretty nice looking after market units that fit the double din slot. Plus, you can get lots of other features the shaker doesn't have (ie BT, USB, NAV, etc). If it was me wanting better sound, I'd go after market and have better speakers installed at the same time.
