2010 dual climate temperature issue

664 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Cobrajet67
My 2010 Gt with the dual climate is blowing warmer air out the driver vents ( far left, center left) , compared to the passenger vents, even though I have the dual temperature setting off, meaning the temperature should be the same. Any thoughts on the solution to this?

Probably a stuck blend door or bad blend door actuator.

Took to a mechanic yesterday to check Freon. He said that the expansion valve and the compressor was bad. The compressor was supposedly not making enough pressure, causing the expansion valve to fluctuate, causing the compressor to cycle on and off repeatedly. The is really prevalent on the drivers side since it is the exit point of the evaporator. I still can not wrap my head around this….. it seems like a blend door actuator is just malfunctioning causing it to go back and forth, hot air, cold air on the driver side while the passenger side is temperature stable. Any thoughts? I really want to trust these guys, they have been spot on before, but this sounds like they don’t understand dual climate zones….

Being a 2010 owner with an insane A/C issue myself, I would have to ask. Does the passenger side get cold?

Did you take it to a Ford dealer or a private shop?
A dealer will know exactly how it works. Most private mechanics will just take their best guess. Dealers also just guess too but at least they employ mechanics that only work on Fords so they're familiar.
If only one side is being affected then it's seems to not be a system wide issue. Imo it's either a bad blend door/actuator or blocked duct from a rodent. I've seen posts that have reported nests being found in the filter area that only allow airflow to get to one side.
Is the temperature difference extreme and is the side that blows colder normal or not really cold enough?

I took it to a private shop. The passenger side seemingly maintains the correct temperature. The drivers side will mostly be warmer than the passenger side. I can shut the vents on the drivers side and the car will begin to cool, so I am guessing the cooling part of the system is functional. I did notice that that after several hours of driving, the drivers side will start to fluctuate from warm to cold in about 1 minute intervals. I am going to replace the drivers side blend door and see if that helps.

I believe that it's usually the door actuators on these cars that fail not the blend doors themselves.
