2010 Mustang GT Auto SCT SF3 / X3 Warranty Void, 0-60 questions...Anyone Know?

Ok, I just got a great deal on a 2010 Mustang GT Premium Auto (because of the 2011s) I have done a few 0-60 runs and got time of 5.043 . The car has 8200 miles on it, so I assume it will drop another .1 once the engine gets broken in. Can anyone confirm or deny from experience?

It has a bumper to bumper until 35K , and its a certified used ford, so it has the powertrain coverage until 100K. I have have had it for about two weeks, and I want to lower the 0-60 to 4.8 or 4.7 without canceling my warranty. (want to surprise some 2010 Camaro SS's off the line...haha). Here are my questions:

If I use the SCT SF3 / X3, and the the 91 or the 93 tune can I get to those numbers? And more importantly will I be able to drop the Tune back to stock, if I have a warranty claim. And most importantly will any sign of the tune still be present after I drive for about 50 miles (after its returned to stock), or will the dealership be able to tell?

Are there any ford techs out there that can confirm or deny if the memory will re-set after 50 miles and a stock tune?

Any knowledge would be appreciated. :smartass:

They can always tell if you flashed the ECU. They do not care in my dealing with the dealership. I have had 3 warranty repairs and the last one was the entire transmission rebuilt. All repairs were completed with my JLT cai, headers, flowmasters and Brenspeed tune installed. If the tune or mod IS or caused the problem it will not be covered.

'10 GT CAI & Tune

A larger then stock, CAI and SCT "canned" tune will gain you +21-+28 rwhp, a custom dyno tune will gain you +38+/- rwhp. Once you load in your SCT tune the stock tune is sent to your tuner for future use and re-install back into car as needed.

I suggest you get a CAI kit with a tuner. You will get more power from the combo, and the tune will tighten up the shifts in the auto. Just the shifts alone should get you pulling to 60 quicker, and more power is always fun and quicker still.

If you ever have to take the car to the dealer for repair, just reflash the stock tune, install the stock induction and disconnect the battery for more than 30 minutes. They will see that the PCM has been reset, and if they ask, say you disconnected the battery to see if that resolved the problem. They shouldn't give you grief about that.

By the way, how are you timing your 0-60 so accurately?

So your sure that the ECU will not show any signs of changes if I reflash the stock tune, and disconnect the battery for 30 minutes? I have a motorola droid and use the app "fastest droid" which uses gps to make 0-60 and 1/4 mile calculations. How long does it take to install the aftermarket intake (yourself) and what what kind of 0-60 and horsepower gains should I expect with an sct tune and CAI. I was also wondering if there are dangers with having a CAI during heavy rain, I have heard that it can kill the engine.

I'm certain that you will not have any issues with the dealer if you reflash to stock and disconnect the battery. You can install the CAI kit and tune in less than 30 minutes.

Not sure about the 0-60 improvements, but it will be substantial since the transmission will shift quicker than most manual drivers. No more slushy shifts. The C&L kit with tune will get you about 15 more rwhp. This may not sound like much when compared to other vendors, but they post actual gains from their own internal testing. You will not be disappointed with their kit.

A CAI/93 Tune should get you in the 4.8-4.9 range with some practice. Walk it out of the hole for a few feet then bury the throttle. If you just stomp it from idle or brake-rev it on your stock tires you will not come close to your goal but the burnout will be impressive to your friends. I assume you are on the factory tires. For consistancy find a concrete surface to do your 0-60 runs. The tires will bite better there than on asphault. I run consistant 4.80's 0-60 with mods in sig on a concrete connector bridge just out of town. It's brand new with a gritty texture. I might pull a 4.7 with more practice and messing with the tire pressure but I am content for now. Asphault will always be a tenth or 2 slower due to more wheelspin. Drag strips have concrete launch pads for a reason. Good luck with your mods and keep us informed.
