(Video) 2010 V6 continues accelerating after releasing pedal

Hey Guys,

I brought my 2010 V6 Mustang Convertible in to a Ford Service center about a month/month and a half a go. It was having what is probably a throttle related issue where my Stang continues accelerating even after I release the gas pedal (only after flooring it). When I brought my car in for service, the mechanics couldn't replicate the issue and told me it probably had to do with the fact that I washed my car in cold temperatures (I live in Minnesota). Today, the issue resurfaced and I was able to replicate it consistently, so I recorded a video. I'm fine with driving cautiously in colder temps, but it was about mid 40's today.

Take a look at the video and let me know what you think. Has anybody else experienced anything similar? Seems like a pretty serious safety issue for Ford.

Thanks for taking a look!

Is it the stock throttle body? I've heard of people having hanging rpm problems with aftermarket TBs. If it's stock, have someone look at the butterflies as you press the pedal and let up like your flooring it. See if they stay open. It might just need a good cleaning.

According to Ford, after looking over my car last time, the only aftermarket part they found was my cold air in-take. They even tried to blame the cold air mod as a potential cause lol. I did buy my car used and I'm not exactly a car expert, so I guess that could be the cause. I'll have them look at those suggestions when I bring it in this week.

Thanks for the tips!

I had problem when I first bought new.The floor mats were in upside down from dealer to keep clean.I floored and it stuck to floor.Jerked back mat with my heal of my shoe.Instantly slowed down.Once I put in mats correctly never had it do again.Pretty scarey at the time.

This also happened to me. I ended up going 60-65 mph through my neighborhood before I jerked the mat back and the pedal came unstuck. Not sure if this is what's happening to OP, but definitely worth the check!
