2010 V6 Engine Swap Question

So I've owned my Mustang for a couple of moths now and I've dumped a decent amount of money on making the exterior look Great, also my Ford Racing Dual Exhaust arrives tomorrow (Hopefully). I love this car, but I feel the need to have a V8. So here's my question, I've heard that its smart to buy a totaled car with a V8 to swap some parts with it, so since my Mustang is 2010, can I only look for a totaled 2010 Mustang, or can I go all the way back to 2005? Also, what size would I be looking at? Can I only get 4.6, or is it possible to try for 5.0 or maybe bigger?

Here's a picture of my Mustang if you were wondering what the exterior looked like

Why dont you sell the v6 and buy the v8? The swap will not only be stressful, time consuming but also more expensive than just buying the v8
Honestly, any of the mentioned swaps work with enough money. However, as mentioned above, it would be cheaper to just trade in and buy the different model.

Isn't it a near impossible move to trade in a car only a couple months after you bought it though?

Says who? Youll lose some dough but its doable

So getting approved won't be difficult? I don't mind paying more, it's the approval I'm worried about
? Get approved before you trade/sell the car.

If you can do the work, it's not that hard to do a swap. Getting a complete donor car is the best way to go, but you can buy what you need and put it all together. For most people, it is more economical to sell or trade the v6 and get a gt. You can find the items you need for anywhere from $1000-$4000. (I have a complete 4.6 motor for sale for $3200 that was going to be used in a swap).

The only critical parts that need to be from a '09 or '10 are the engine warning harness and the PCM. Most everything else can be from a '05--'10.

I have a writeup on mustangcollective.com on how to do the swap.

This might have to be the route I go, trading in my V6 for a GT won't work. I got screwed in the deal for my V6, I'm in too deep to trade a GT. So it's either go for the swap or start up a GT Fundraiser lol

Little hint. Theres a reason why only a handful of people has successfully complete a swap. Its more troublesome than it sounds...

IDK. I owe $18,000 on this car. They want $20,000 for the GT. you think that the amount if get from the trade minute how much I owe won't push the total cost over $30,000? I'm willing to pay about $30,000 and just keep the car for life

You can sell the car private party, as in have someone take over your payment, then just sign for a new gt. Go ask the dealer what theyre willing to give you in terms of trade in.

Ya, sounds like you're a bit under water. As someone already mentioned, swapping that v6 for a v8 is not for the faint of heart (with the exception of TexasBlown) ;) Keep in mind, there differences between the v6 and GT other than the engine (bigger brakes, bigger diff with posi, etc). This won't be your last auto, you might want to consider driving it as is, save up for that GT further down the road..
