So I was thinking if I were to get a automatic 5.0 which is the better deal?

Would you get a better deal getting a 2011 GT, or ordering a 2012 GT base model?

How low can you get a 2011 GT premium for? Could you get a leftover for the same price as a 2012 GT base?

I haven't looked around in a few months, but if your city is anything like Houston, you'll be hard pressed to find a 2011 model that you'd actually want. Again, I'm speaking from my perspective of Houston's inventory, but the leftover 2011 models usually have options/colors that are not very popular. You may be able to find one and save $1,000 - $2,000, but the best way to find that out is to start looking and haggling. If you do find a well optioned 2011 that you like, I say pull the trigger if you can manage to get a sizable discount over the 2012's. What's a sizable discount? Well, that all depends on your budget.

I'd say go for the 2011.. not enough has changed and you'd get the added "features", if you can call it that.

I'd just look out for the "test mileage". I can't imagine test miles on a Mustang GT to be the very best miles it has seen in its life.

300 test miles on a minivan... probably an ok thing... on a Mustang GT? Not sure what the studies would report.

With a good deal on the new car (and I did quite well) plus the rebate plus the private cash, I'd much rather have a 2012 with exactly what I wanted on it than a really close 2011. Who wants really close on something you are going to make what, 48, 60, or 72 payments on?

I'm very glad I got the premium too, way too many handy and fun features the base would have omitted. Plus the base wasn't really an option for me as the HIDs were a must.

Whichever you can get the best deal on('11 or '12)but I would personally go with the premium.

Some of it also depends on how long you plan to keep it. You might get a better deal on a 2011, but if you only keep it a few years the older model could hurt you then. If you plan to keep it a long time, that doesn't really matter as much.

Definitely go with the premium. The steering wheel on the base is aweful, sync is awesome, and the my color is fun to play with. Like others have said I wouldn't by one with over 30 or so miles on it. Make sure you get exactly what you want because you will regret if you settle. Good luck on your search!

I was gonna get the base model to save money. The dealer had my name on the car and I was to pick it up the next morning. Went by and snapped some pics to show the wife that night. She noticed the seats and complained hat they were not leather. I told her you could only get leather on the Premium edition. She logged onto the dealers website and found a Grabber Blue Premium and guess which one I got? :shigrin

Get the base model. It's a freaking mustang, and IMO, why they hell do you need ambient lighting, power seats, rear view camera, sync, GPS? Sounds more like a luxury car than a raw muscle car.

I love my base. Less things to go wrong or break.

Bought a base and never looked back.

Steering wheel isn't the devil like some people make it out to be. The only thing I wanted from the premium was the USB port. I'll just upgrade the stereo later though.

If you can find the 2011 Premium, it'll probably end up costing you the same as the 2012 base after rebates. I'd go 2011 personally.

Premium all the way. If the base GT has the same interior as the base V6, then go for premium definitely. The steering wheel is all black cheap plastic, the dash panels are a grey plastic instead of real aluminum and the cloth trim looks like its 5 years old when its new... plus no Sync, no stereo controls on steering wheel, etc.

I have a base model... I have spent a lot improving the interior because its so poor...
