That's gonna be a tough sell. Congratulations to you and the Mrs. on the expected. I have 2 daughters and they are both in boosters but I have yet to take delivery so I can't provide any pictures.

The back seats seem to be deeper so you shouldn't have a problem.

Best of luck!!

Hopefully! the new 5.0 is a monster
One thing to realize about the back seats of the mustang's is that it's not a flat "bench" seat. The seats are recessed in and the seat belt receptacles are contained within the inside of each seat. Which means you need narrow baby/booster seats to fit properly into the back seat. I found some narrow-ish booster seats (Walmart) for my 2 kids that work pretty good. A standard booster seat is too wide to fit correctly in the seat.

Don't wanna be a party killer but I can't imagine an infant rear-facing car seat will fit unless the front passenger seat is completely pushed forward or inclined all the way forward. I could be wrong though. Go get a rear facing infant seat (you're gonna need one anyways :)) and take it too a dealership to see how it fits.

These are too wide
Ouch ... I can't imagine a rear facing fitting in the rear seat no matter how you shoe horn it. Because of the bucketing, most bases won't fit down into the groove so they wobble around on the bolster cushion.

Our two year old is in a 5 pt forward facing seat, a sunshine kids radian 80. Both our kids are super skinny, so we looked around and found a slim car seat for our older son and then passed it down to our daughter. This car seat fits with lots of room to spare between the bolsters, but in rear facing configuration takes up so much room it wouldn't fit that way even in our Q7. I think rear facing we used a peg perego? But back then I had a merc 4 door.

We had to buy a new booster for my son. His old one was too wide, and wouldn't fit between the bolsters. The harmony boosters are tapered toward the bottom so they fit great.

Sorry to say, I don't think you're going to get a rear facing in; not only with fit, but how are you going to squeeze the carrier past the front seat to get it into the back?
When I took delivery, I had my 3 year old with us, and had a front facing graco seat in the rear, tight, front seat was up about 40%, had my son take his shoes off so he would scuff up dad's new leather seats. It wasnt to bad......

My wife and I both are short (under 5'8). We can fit a car seat no problem. If someone was tall, maybe not, but since your wife is short it should be fine. -- When we were considering it I actually took the car seat to the dealer and tested it out. I recommend doing that. Nothing like seeing for yourself. I always kid around that I can fit 2 car seats in the car if need be! -- Give them kids one heck of a ride :bigthumbsup
We did car seats in my 04 GT. If you plan on using your car a lot and bringing the kid along, considering buy a seat that has a detachable base. Leave the base mounted in the back seat and simply toss the kid in the back and go. Makes life sooooo much easier.

2 Graco Seats & kids fit fine

See the photos in my gallery. We test fit these during our test drive. The fit is even better after the headrests were removed. I'm 5'5 and the kids are 3 and 5. We did 750 miles each way on a road trip and they were fine back there with dvd's on the headrests. Rear facing seat may only work in the passenger seat and it may be difficult for anyone to ever sit in the front. Good luck.
We had 2 mustangs until Thursday night when my wife made the decision to trade her '10 in on an '11 charger.

A rear facing car seat isn't ideal in a mustang but it can happen. As stated, you will want a carseat that has the removable base I have no experience of an infant riding in the mustang so I can't help you on that front. My buddy bought his '11 back in December-ish and he had a 2 month old at the time. He's about 6' and his wife is probably 5'4-5'6 and they do fine with the baby and his 4 year old. Sorry I don't have a pic of him with kids in tow.

Though this may not help you any time soon my kids are 2 (almost 3) and 4 (5 in february) and the forward facing car seats are a breeze to fit kiddos in. I'm 5'11 and don't have to move my seat forward at all when the kiddos are riding in the back.

This is the car seat both of my kids have now.

The pedestal base of the Britax Roundabout fits into the contour of the seat. I haven't tried it rear facing.

I removed a rear headrest and I'm very pleased with the overall fit. This was not true with another, larger seat.

The "correct" answer is probably to keep the Charger until the kiddo is forward facing.
My son is 3 1/2 years old and still room for an adult to ride comfortably in front, rear facing would be an different story but since your wife is 5'3" it will work out fine.

I hope you all have another car though, something more practical for trips and such, as not much luggage fits in the trunk for a mustang compared to the challenger trunk.
thank you guys!
i am going to buy a Peg Perego Primo Viaggo and go to ford, chevy and dodge and see what muscle coupe best fits. hopefully the 5.0 gets my wife's vote.

thanks again!
