I have a 2011 GT VERT with only 700 miles on ODO and all sudden today i hear a tick (rattle) that is coming behind the Tachomoter cluster

I just brought it in to my dealership----they heard it too during test drive-----said they can take apart dash and "insulate"

Im scared bc them taking apart my dash can turn one rattle, into 5!!!!

It does it when it wants to----

All and any suggestions would be greatly apppreciated----should i have it serviced, or leave it be?

LAST THING I WANT IS A RATTLE BOX!!!!!!!!!!!

COME ON FORD!

PS: While I was there a truck came in with 2 new 5.0's-----one was a fully loaded kona blue vert (now im not the only 5.0 vert in NJ) and the other was a loaded silver coupe

And I'm still waiting for my GB/CS here in NYC
I'd want it fixed
I would wait a short while, maybe it will work itself out and go away. You can always take it in before the warranty goes out. Yea a brand new car should not rattle but we still have people working on the production line and we make mistakes. Hopefully not a hugh mistake. Good luck.
I have a slight rattle as while but mine are behind my vents, its so uoticable that I forgot about them until you made this post :nono: but I can't hear it anymore cause I usually have my radio on. I'm just gonna leave it alone until it starts nagging at me
ahhhhh after 140 miles on my "vert" all I can say is I'm in LOVE! But I will turn th radio off and roll up the top then listen for a rattle..... maybe sometime later this week when I put the top up!
I have a coupe with about 300 miles on it & solid so far!

Is it really necessary to take apart the whole dash?Might be overkill.

Also I don't like the idea of just doing something strange like just throwing insulation at it.Could be the tach or speedo making noise & have nothing to do with INSULATION!

I've seen alot of speedos & tachs make this type of noise over the years. If your dealer thought the right thing to do is rip it all apart & throw insulation at it.RUN FROM THIS DEALER FAST!

Sounds like a bad speedo or tach could be the problem.Either way i recomend getting it looked at & repaired by a dealer who knows better than to just rip it apart & throw insulation in it.

I would not tear into the dash unless you have no other options...pretty sure you will have the 5 instead of 1. I had a rattle on my 2010 GT500 and went away after a couple of months...it was also in the instrument panel area.
My glove box is making a ticking sound too. I have located the source to be in the area of the far right hinge. I tired tightning the bolt but no change. I will remove the glovebox and add some foam tape. Better me than the dealer.
In my experience with 7 Mustangs now, they all have little rattles/noises here and there, but I've never had a huge problem. This is true especially in convertibles over 2 years old. Interestingly though, my 2010 has zero unwanted noises or rattles.
Sell it. Get a 'vette. :)

LOL And when you pick up three girls you have to leave two of them and most of their luggage standing on the side of the road while the guy with the stang takes all three home.

But thats ok..you will look "real cool" goin home with just the one chic while the other two flip you off.

Could be something simple like a connector that cam loose.
I would have the dealer fix it.
Is this rattle at idle while stopped too?
Does it only happen while driving?
At what speed does it occur?
Is it more noticable over bumps?
Mine is a 10 and I also noticed a rattling the other day.
No rattles on mine but i do have an awful turn noise.

My brother said it was the exact same noise as his 08 Shelb convertible and he said it stopped after about 20k miles.

So did you have it serviced or leave it alone? I have a 2010 GT with the same noise.. It started around 5000k miles, and I think is due to the rough roads I drive on. If you even touch the dash while driving, you can feel the amount of vibration that is being transmitted through the car and into this area. If I am driving on a road that is smooth, then there is no noise. I also have some rattling noise near the glovebox, but that doesn't bother me like the rattling behind the speedometer. I am afraid to touch it or have it serviced, since that could create more rattling
