The SVT Superfest at Virginia International Raceway last weekend was an absolute blast. Attendance was outstanding with many attractions. This year the Shelby (SAAC) and SVTOA clubs teamed up for the event. This was my second HPDE this year and the first since modding the car.

The event was three days with three 30 minute track sessions each day (for each group). We ran the "Grand" course which is 4.2 miles and over 30 turns (a lot to digest for a first timer). The track staff were very efficient and professional and the organizers had their act together. Over the entire weekend EVERY SINGLE run group ran on schedule.

My car held up well despite overheating after the second session on Saturday. It turned out a piece of rubber designed to seal the fan shroud to the radiator came loose and got sucked into the fan, blowing the fan fuse. As soon as I came off the track I overheated and pissed fluid in the paddock. Fortunately it was an easy fix.

Speaking of the car, it f---ing fast :shiny: and the NT05s performed flawlessly.

My instructor, Norbert Watts, with over 30 years experience at that track was the best. He helped me get faster with every run. Here are some pics.

The stock Pirellis would probably stick better than my NT05s. My tires aren't designed for wet tracks. In any case, running a course like that in the rain takes extra care. Within 10 minutes of the rain starting three cars were off the track, two with damage (one a beautiful vintage Shelby Cobra). That said, I talked to people who like running in the rain and others who will sit out their track time if it's wet.
