Hello all,

I just wanted to ask a question regarding something I have noticed about my 2011 Mustang v6 with automatic transmission. When I am straightening the steering wheel after I have just executed a turn or curve right when it hits the middle where the steering wheel is straight I will hear a thud.

This noise is not extremely loud, however is noticeable and is something you can almost slightly feel. It is defiantly coming from the front of the vehicle and seems to be more on the drivers side than passenger when it occurs. This isn't affecting the driveability of the car as I can tell and doesnt really hang up the steering wheel from straightening but I can tell something has to be causing this noise.

If there is anyone out there who has had a similar issue or knows what my problem could be I would greatly appreciate it. I would rather not have to take it automatically to a shop, but if I don't receive suggestions I will have to.

Thanks everyone

First order is to get your front end up in the air and take a look around on the effected side. It could be a wheelwell lining retainer came loose and your tie rod is getting hung up on it. Or it could be an endlink or upper strut mount like penguin mentioned. You could even have an assistant (if available) turn the wheel while your under it to get a better bead on where it's coming from. It may not make the noise with the suspension unloaded though, so take a light source and poke around a bit.

I think it could be the wheelwell liner :)
