So This might be long but please bare with me. Last October(2020) I was driving home one night and all of the sudden I hear this little poof from the engine and it just slowly starts to decline in power and I turned it off just in case something was seriously wrong. I went to try and restart it, it cranks and rolls but will not start at all. I got it towed home, when to check my garage where it sat, and sure enough, there was oil on the ground. And there was quite a bit. (dumb me for not checking when I originally pulled the car out for the year in April) But I never got any indication from the car, until the last second, that the oil was low or there was not any pressure. So I have been told 3 different things at this point and I'm trying to see if anyone else knows what is possibly going on.

there could be lots of things and it is very hard to diagnose over the internet with minimal sketchy information

look and see if you can figure out where the oil is coming from -- could be as simple as a loose oil filter or drain plug; or it could be something much worse like a hole in the block

also impossible to say from here what damage might have been done by running without enough oil . . . .what have they been telling you?

I know it leaked from the oil filter. One guy at a shop has told me that the pistons have pushed through the lifters, and another has told me I just need to put oil in it to Give it oil pressure back and itll start back up again. An inspection has been done there is not damage to the outside of the engine.

hmmmmm . . . . I don't think it is possible for the "pistons to push through the lifters" but he could be getting at something sort of like that . . . if that is the case, there is some major damage involved and I am not sure if starting the car will make it worse

I would be tempted to fill it up with oil and start it up . . . or just turn it over with the starter and see how it sounds (if you floor the gas pedal, you can cycle the starter and the engine will not start)

but I think I would wait until some others chime in, I would not want you to cause more damage on my suggestion

I would have the car checked for engine codes, Key On Engine Off. See if any codes relate or present an issue. Then I'd visually check under the car for where the leak may have come from. If a hose, oil filter or seal blew out I'd fix that first and add oil so as to try and start. If it starts, listen for immediate noise and location and shut it down. Try to read Key On Engine Running codes. Is there an oil gauge in the car? Check for pressure build while starting it. Unless you can read codes and list them on the forum I'm pretty sure a tow to a garage will be a wise thing to do.
The "pistons to push through the lifters" comment may have meant a valve has hit a piston, just guessing.
