2012 Mustang GT - Track Day

Hi all,

2012 bone stock mustang gt, 35xx miles.

Safe to run on a track? It's going to be my first time (autocrossed before, but no main track). I will check tire pressure and have my oil changed before I go. Anything else to watch out for?

Is the stock tune safe for track use? I know that the car jerks sometimes when I go WOT, but I attribute that to the factory "safe" tune.

Any thoughts appreciated!

You'll be fine. Make sure you lower your tires pressure as the heat will increase the PSI by as much as 8-10. Once the tires get over 40 you will see a noticeable lack of grip.

Make sure to raise your hood between sessions to cool as as fast as possible.

Afterward, it is always good to check your pads, fluid, and tires.

Thank you for the tips. Now, let's land some sponsors! :winks
You're gonna have SOOO much fun...I know I did. :gringreen
Google up Ford's recs for tracking the Boss. IIRC it was 41 lbs HOT for the tires. Other recommendations were perhaps unnecessary.

I might be more inclined to change my oil after the event rather than before it. Your oil is a lot closer to "fresh" now than it will be after the event.
You be fine just remember they will make your remove all loose items from your car. I did 1 autocross on wide go cart track they video it it's somewhere on youtube. Funny part video is on it's side done on friends smart phone

Forgot about this as they make you remove stuff at tech inspection. Your instructor might not care though. They don't like floormats though as they are convinced it might get stuck in places you don't want.

Also, you might want to replace the headrest as helmets will hit them and be a bit uncomfortable.
