Ok so I finally got my 2012 and I am trying to get my satellite radio set up.

Now I didn't opt for the satellite radio package from ford because I already have a sirius subscription and the base radio says it is satellite ready.

I called sirius and they were just not getting what I was saying.

Basically I want to put my car radio onto my sirius account and find out if I can use my antenna I have or if I need to buy a separate one?

Anyone know anything about setting these up?

From your description I think you messed up. Unless you mean you want to add your own satellite receiver. That's what "satellite ready" means. For the simple option you should have taken Ford up on their satellite package. You get a free six month subscription. Then since you already have a Sirius account at the end of your free 6 months you could have it switch over. OOPS! This is exactly what I did with the car I traded. I has Sirius time left on that car. At the end of my Ford free 6 months the Sirius time I had left on the car I traded automatically kicks in.

That's what I was thinking as well.

There is a module to add satellite radio to the base radio so that the oem radio buttons will control it.

Saw the other day where someone had this added to their car and the dealer got $625 for this.

OUCH!!!

well my sirius radio is a little stick on dash one. and I still have it and the antenna.

worst comes to worst, I just stick it on the dash instead of controlling it through the radio.

I'd rather just control it through the radio.

No, that dash mounted deal can't be controlled through the stock radio, just played through it.

Unfortunately, for the money it'll cost you to buy the proper modules to use the OEM radio buttons you could have just got the SYNC option and had it all done and had enough money left over to pay for a year Sirius subscription.

I never understand people that do this, I know people that have gotten a $50 credit for a radio delete (because they planned to go aftermarket) only to spend $100 to get an antenna installed. They could have paid the $50 and sold the head unit on eBay for $150! Hard lessons learned.

sync wasn't an option on base model.

I'll just do it the old fashioned way since I already have a radio that works. now I just have to re-mount the unit to the car.

no biggie. maybe in the future I'll find the module out of a wrecked mustang.

All the OP wanted was the Sat radio to work with the oem radio controls, not SYNC.

To get SYNC you have to buy a premium car for $3200 more, to get the sirius module to have the Sat radio that is controlled through the oem radio buttons cost in the $600 range installed in the base car.

So, that looks to me to be $2600 cheaper.

Well, if he didn't have a base car then he would have SYNC and Sat radio already.

Where did you come up with that interior upgrade package? Or is that just a Canada only deal? Never seen it before.

Okay, I found it. That is a Canada only package for the Canada version of the Premium Mustang.

Not available on base cars and not available in the U.S. and obviously not to the OP.

Sorry Ramaj, but the others are correct. You will now have to add your Sirius module to your vehicle and it won’t work with your steering wheel buttons.:( I do hope you are still enjoying your Stang!!:winks

I just put all the wires in the center console slots and then dropped the control unit in the cup holder since I need a new mount for it. works fine, just can't see what I'm listening to.

I can see that set up up if I were a HS kid driving a beater, not as an adult driving a new car though. I suppose once you get a new mount it'll look & work better.

well all the wires are hidden. I only pulled enough cable out to attach to the controller that I put in the cup holder for lack of a better place.

I'll probably save up and get that iSimple thing for like $250 or whatever it is. or try to find a control module out of a wrecked one in a junkyard or something.
