Ok guy's here come the 2013 Camaro's and the V6 sports 323Hp.
Let's hear about the 3.7 vs 3.6 battles stock or not. I came up on a

I don't know about the Camaro, but the Caddy with it will really move, don't underestimate em
I'm not sure with the specs on the new v6 mustang? Just take the power of both cars and the weight of each. The new Camaro is VERY Heavy, I think Ford has always made a better v6 then GM.

The Camaro is like 300lbs heavier so the 18hp doesn't help. Additionally, peak torque of 278 doesn't arrive until 4800rpm compared to 280tq at 4250rpm for our motor. I also believe they have fairly anemic gearing and not too many performance options to replace them.

As the 4.6l guys always remind us when comparing the 3.7l to them, it's the torque down low that gives them the better push and makes them faster.

that's funny, did you know Ford basically ripped off the GM 3.8 design when they built their first one? Yep, they reverse engineered it....

My co-worker has a V6 Camaro AT Vert. The 0-60 times can be looked up.... I may be wrong, but I think it's in the 6 second range. Not much, if any, quicker than my truck.

Co-worker btiches about poor fuel mileage; 18 mpg on hi way with 4 people in it. My 4WD, 4 door, 390hp Ram Hemi does better than that. I told him to take the camaro back to the dealer to have it checked out.

It will probably be a similar situation that we 5.0 owners have with the SS- stock it's pretty much a drivers race with a slight edge to the Mustang due to the Camaro's weight

Add in beefier gears, CAI, tune, exhaust and it starts to get really interesting down the road, eh?:gringreen

While every manufacturer will do some reverse engineering, the 3.7 has been around in various forms for almost 20 years. It started as the Mondeo V6 engine that was used in a wide number of Ford, Mazda, and other cars. The Mondeo was a Porsche design bought by Ford and with heads designed by Cosworth. The 3.6L Holden/GM V6 was not developed until ten years after the Modeo, so if there was any revese enginering, it hd to be done by GM. Besides which, the Camaro uses direct injection, which is not done with the Mustang. If you are going to make silly statements, get your facts rights. And the GM 3800 was a desig that goes back 50 years. Not much left to rip off.

For a funny story about reverse engineering, you should check out the story about how Rolls Royce first got an automatic transmission. They took the GM Hydro-Matic apart and looked at ways to improve it. They found some parts that they figured were rough cast for cost savings, and refined them. Found out that smooth, polished clutch packs do not work as well as rough surfaced ones.

Thanks for the reply's, the weight of the new Camaro is a factor. Our
Stang's with a 3.55:1 or bigger gear will blow their doors off!
G
I think if the v6 camaro has a stick, you can put SS gears or 3.55s in it which would help acceleration some. Probably closer to stock v6 mustang 1/4 mile times.

Can't say that is true. The last 4.0 V6 in the Mustang was a real turd, the 3.8 V6 in the older F-bodies was better then that.

Turd is putting it nicely.

And GM and V6's? Hmm...3800 Series II anyone?
G
And GM and V6's?
They have made some good ones, more so then Ford I would say. The older 3.8's were bulletproof, the newer 3.6's are very good and I had a '99 Grand Prix GTP years ago with the supercharged 3.8, which took to mods very well and never gave me a problem in 75K.

BUT, I think the Ford 3.7 is better then the GM 3.6...

Here we are, 25 years later, and a brand new V6 Mustang is still slower than a 25 year old Buick sedan.

Right, because those can run in the 12's without FI, just like the new V6?
