Hi guys, I did a test drive on GT/CS AUTO 3.15 Gears. I am thinking of buying this car.

Factors :- There were two of us in the car, ESC was 'ON', it was a bent uneven road, air condition was 'ON' and 87 Octane. It took 7 secs(using Track apps) for a 60.

There is a lot of reviews showing a 60 can be made in 4.5 secs. I totally understand factors i mentioned above hinder the performance(0-60 times). Now here is my question, i will give it a 91 Octane, turn off ESC/Air condition and hop on a straight/less windy road, can i a make a 60 in 5 secs. I am not confident about it. I think most reviewers did it using a manual and 3.73 Gears. I don't care about how manual transmissions perform because i am not getting it anyway.

Added to my disappointment i did test drive a Camaro 2SS(Automatic with 3.27 Gears) and felt a little quicker. I didn't count the time though. It could just be my feeling and i could be wrong.

I am in the brink and was about to buy the car but after what i saw i am disappointed. Help me with your suggestions/experiences guys. Modding is always an option but i want to see what stock is really capable of.

Edit: Here is the fact my Brother's drive 335i and M3. I really wished this could stand against. I really don't want to buy a 335i, I want to be something else. I did a test drive on Volvo S60 T6 AWD (325hp) and felt a lot quicker and the same way with the 335i. Well they are just 300+ HP. I don't know if it is just my feeling. Help me guys. I need an expert advice.

My "track apps" (Dashhawk) pings off 60 in a touch over 4 seconds on the road, has since day one, from a full stop. 2012 loaded 3.73 car with MT. Honestly, I feel the factory auto is tuned so soft there's little hope matching a 0-60 on a 6MT/3.73 car in stock form.

My auto with ac on and me,my son, and my nephew in the car was 5.1 0-60. I am [email protected], my son is 90 lbs soaking wet (he's only 13) and my nephew is close to probably 225. So I figured considering, that wasn't to bad.

I am so into my car its ridiculous but if you test drove a GT/CS and are still thinking about Camaros and BMWs and Volvos you probably shouldn't buy anything right now.

The right car will be the one you think about day and night and can't think about much else until you have it.

BAM!

All it took was one test drive and I had my 5.0 on order the next day.

OP, the stock AUTO is tuned for the cruiser in mind and not so much the driving enthusiast that the manual trans is meant for. However, there is a lot that can be done for the auto with just a tune that can turn the car into a beast that will eat your brothers' bimmers alive.:bigthumbsup

Do you live 10000 feet above sea level? Something is missing here:yelwacko: It is very easy to pull off a at least 0-60 time of 5 sec in a stock auto 11+ 5.0. Even without any sort of launch or technique, just step on it!
I do agree that the new 5.0 "feels"very weak for how quick and powerful it is. If you don't mind screwing with your warranty A tune will greatly help this. Going by feel/sotp is decieving and you will easilly handle a 335i no problem.

Here was my 2011 stock auto 5.0 doing a 0-60+. Take out your stopwatch and time it. I just found a flat surface and stepped on it...

:) Lol. Well said. I agree 100%. As i said i am disappointed only because i am thinking of it day and night. I really like the LED lights all around, interior lighting, pony projector light and the grunt of the beast. It was the video comparison of Mustang GT and BMW M3 by MotorTrend instigated my interest. But i really like the push when you stomp on the Gas pedal with those German sporties. I did a test drive on Manual GT(3.73) as well and it was as quick but i didn't feel the same Push with Auto. Unfortunately factory has only 3.15 with AUTO and its not upgradeable. I can get it aftermarket but i am scared since factory does not recommend it. As a matter of fact i felt push as like in M3 when i did the test drive on 2013 GT Manual 3.73.

1.) I am guessing 3.15 gear ratio is the real culprit. With all your expertise can you confirm that ??

2.) Is it ok to have 3.55 gears (3.73 for an auto really scares me)for Auto ?? Does it improve acceleration ? Does it require any transmission tuning to match the gears.

Thanks all guys for your suggestions. I am little confident and happy now. To tell you the truth i drove a lot of cars but own a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant. So you can tell how expert i could be. I do a lot of online research that is the only knowledge i have. My practical knowledge is very little.

I've read a lot about how fast the auto GT's are, however like the OP I was disappointed with the 0-60 performance during a test drive.

I took a test drive in two different 2013 autos and it was the same in both of them. The M6 pony was rearing and ready to go. The difference between the auto and manual was like night and day, however I understand that with a good tune the auto is a bit faster. I was really surprised how mild the stock auto tune is, but maybe it changes when some break in miles are driven.

Of course none of us manual drivers can outshift the computer in the auto.

I know of a couple of guys who were really active on the G8 forums and both love their autos.

I am in Dallas Texas. Believe me i broke into tears. Thank you so much for the video. You made a 60 in 4.5 -4.7 secs. I checked it twice using my stop watch. How did you do that. Do you have any mods or is stock completely ??

I really can't tell you how much i loved this car.

Just purchased 2013 GT, love the car. I test drove a Benz C63 and Audi S4. Great cars but bought the GT for the ride, the look and the quality at a great price point. I have enough left over to buy just about anything else I want.

I don't have track apps but I can tell you that I just broke into the 12s (12.9) with my mostly stock 5.0 (BAMA tune + Roush Intake). DA corrected was a 12.6. On all-seasons.

That's seriously seriously quick, and I'm 100% sure 60mph came well before 5s.

Only thing I can think of was that the car hadn't been PDI'd so maybe it had some nanny on the engine?

I started thinking to buy a used BMW 335i then used AUdi S4 and now a brand new Mustang GT and i am settled.

Now i have a question for you i see you have 20" DUBS. How do you feel driving those. How is the ride comfort ? I am planning to get CS-70's. Does it affect 0-60 performance ??

No mods or tricks just stepped on it:)

Track apps measures 0-60. Timer starts the instant your tires move. Your rollout counts towards your time.

I always thought the autos were the quickest in 0-60?

Don't underestimate the 335i. if it has the older twin turbo mill and the selec-shift auto, those cars rocket out of the hole harder than most cars. They'll dust the V8 M3 in stoplight stuff. the torque that engine makes is really good.

Like the M3 V8, the coyote likes a little revs to wake up on the stock tune. The auto really needs a tune to wake up at all. factory settings are downright horrible.

Keep in mind, you're still pretty much doubling the fuel mileage of the V8 M3 around town and matching its performance also.
