Hello everyone, I'm planing to replace my mustang's exhaust. I just want to make it sounds more aggressive. I did a lot research on internet, but I don't how they sound in real.
So, could anyone give me some suggestion and tell me how much it should be?
Thanks a lot!

Roush with stock piping sounds mean. And with atleast the v6 anyways the stock xpipe and an aftrrmarket unless you go off-road will be no better. Glad I saves my money when the local muffler shop looked at it for me I was even their to buy an xpipe

Just get axle backs if you want it for the sound. Lots of quality options out there.

There are a couple of extensive exhaust sound clip threads with links to videos you can check out.

I have Borla S-Type and love them. Nice growl, low rumble, but near stock level sound levels at cruise. No Drone!

This ^. If you want no drone you will pay a little more up front, but the return is so much better compared to buying cheaper axle backs.

I had Roush axle backs on my 2010 GT and I had to take them off, the drone at 2000 rpm killed my ears. I put on Magnaflows and they sounded great with no drone. On my 2013 I have put on GT500 mufflers and while nice and louder than stock, they are not as loud as the Magnaflows. They sound more hollow. At idle they sound good but at WOT not so loud. I have videos on Youtube of before and after the Gt500s but the sound just doesn't come through that good on the net.

Thanks, I like the Roush from what I've seen on youtube, but I never consider the "drone". Probably I will wait for while and reply it.
I have anther question regarding RPM. I usually shift around 2k RPM, dould you tell me what RPM you shift?

I shift at around 4K, I like to wind it out. If you search for jocatch on YouTube you can see my vidoes of the Roush from inside the car and hear the drone. You can also hear drivebys of the Maganflow on my 2010 and other videos.

I have the FRPP GT500s and love them exactly what you want more muscular sound, and not too loud. Best of all you can buy them for around 300 bux.

Agreed GT500s for less than 300$ and your set. If you don't like them (highly doubt it) sell them...you won't loose much money. Not the loudest but very very nice aggressive muscular rumble. Cannot hear them on the highway cruising also no drone what so ever. If you want louder down the road, change mid pipes to the boss 302 quad exhaust while keeping the mufflers. GT500 + Boss 302 with no restrictor plates = loud throaty and very mean BUT louder on highway cruising.... :winks

I have Roush. Yes they are incredibly mean sounding axle backs and with absolutely no drone at all. But they are just too damn loud. I have had them for more than 2 years and every couple of weeks i think of selling them but then i realize i still love them.

The problem is once you've Roush on, there is no way going back. You'll get addicted but they will blow your ears up. I can't imagine how they'd sound with an aftermarket X or H pipe. With X pipe you'll definitely be louder than a jet.

Check outs Kooks axle backs or Gt500s like many people will suggest. A couple of weeks ago one of my threads on this forum was which axle backs were in between GT500 and Roush. Many people recommended Kooks for it's low rpm rumble and relatively not as mean as Roush at high rpm. G

I went from Roush to GT500s. Much happier now. I find that I wind the motor up more now compared to when I had the Roush. They were too "look at me!"

Roush are only loud on cold start-up for 20 seconds. No drone at all and quiet while cruising. Lovin' mine and sometimes I wish they were alot louder.

Quiter muffler.

Hey, guys. First post.
I recently bought a Manual 2013 V8 Mustang.
This is the current exhaust configuration:
Kooks long headers + Magnaflow Competition Series like this one:
MagnaFlow Exhaust Products - For Trucks, Suv's, American Muscle, Diesel, & Sport Compact Vehicles

I love the car BUT it is extremely loud. So much so I have to drive it with earplugs. It drones when driving slow and it is extremely loud when driven hard.
I'd like to fix this before the neighbors call the cops.
I'm open to suggestions. I would prefer not to remove the headers since I don't have a lift. I would rather just change the mufflers but I'm not against a cat-back.
The current pipe on the muffler intake is 3" which is where I'm running into trouble. Everything I'm finding is 2.75" or less.

All ears.
