I have gotten a brand new 2013 Mustang V6 automatic about 2 months ago and since then I have noticed that my transmission kicks a bit when it shirts down to 1st gear. Such as when I'm slowing down for a light and am almost fully stopped but go back on gas, it kicks. It also kicks when I'm slowing down and it downshifts. I feel a little popping in my brake pedal when it does it from the power. I've been hesitant to take it to the dealer because I wasn't sure if they can do anything for it. I thought the problem would go away but I'm at 11xx miles and it still does it. Anyone know about this issue and do you guys think I should take it to the dealer?

starting happening to me as soon as I bought the car, not sure if it just went away or if my mods cured it but it's gone. 12k on the ODO but it's been gone for awhile.

Of course you should take it to the dealer, that's what a warranty is for!

Now, some may have had a similar experience, it is not normal and don't let the dealership tell you it is.

If you need to, you can get Ford Customer Service involved in the warranty and repair, just send a PM to Deysha (FordCustSrvc) and she will escalate the issue with Ford and your dealer to help move things along.

Mine did this too. 12k miles and, at least, don't notice it anymore. I think I would if it was still doing this but it's possible I'm used to it. I'll try to think about it next time I drive it.

+1. I also feel the kick thing but without pedal action. Shall we go to dealer to figure it out? My car is 2012 V6 automatic.
Hi guys,

I recommend you bring your vehicles in to your Ford dealers and have them checked out. Then, PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number so I can escalate this to the customer service manager for your area.

My 13 has always done this, eventually you stop noticing it. Basically I brake until the very end, then lighten up on the brake, it pops down to 1st and then I finish stopping. (when using stock tune)

If you brake hard, as in "oh s**t" braking, it doesn't happen. (as far as I've noticed, and there have been a few "oh s**t" moments).

Deysha,
I will be sure to do this. I also have a few clunking and creaking issues that I will be mentioning to them as well. I'm nervous though because my dealer said that because I didn't buy the extended warranty that I'm not guaranteed a rental car. I am NOT looking forward to losing my car for a week. :(

Our cars do that occasionally it seems. Mine's tuned and it hasn't done it for a long time, but wake up tomorrow and it may be gone or back again. Ryan has my 3.73 tune to where first gear spools up to around 4k with light throttle, then dumps into second gear and pins my head back. It's not all that safe in traffic and it scares my passengers, but I absolutely love it.

If you are really concerned about it, go to Ford while you're stock and have your warranty. There might be something they can do, but 9 times out of 10 they will do work and you'll be without a car a while for only 15% relief of the issue.

This^^ is why I am reluctant.

Just get a tune and it will be gone most likely. I have a 2013 and noticed it but it was gone after someone with a clue programmed the car. Ford really cripples these cars out of production!

Is this like a popping noise from down shifting sounded like it was my driveshaft only noticed this after they put in my new motor. but figured it was my uca making noise from being loose. Guess i just bought a lemon to many issues with this car for me. now at 31k miles so far engine was replaced trunk making noise had to put new motor in. now my driver seat squeaks and i dont weigh that much. my engine has cold tick noise dealer said they dont hear anything they probably just dont want to fix it. and now sounds like my transmission is no good problem after problem. ive had advance track issue with the sensors also.

Took the dealer one week to fix trunk issue also wanted oil change done same time. after 3 days they order part 7th day i come in they didn't even have oil change done all they did was apologize, all this time and no rental car so far not a good experience.
