Is it on youtube? If so, post the link. The website will figure out the rest.
What mods do you have? Gear ratio?

My cousin got a 2010 GT and wants to take our stangs to the track to see whose is quicker. I rode in it, and it only seemed a little quicker because of the 3.73's in his, but it was a manual, so I think I could take him with 2.73s in my auto on the strip. Post that vid!

If your cousin can launch his car and shift the gears well I don't think you will outrun him at the strip.

Here is a video for reference. Both cars are stock and automatics. So you cousins car with a M6 and 3.73 gears is going to be quite a bit quicker than the car in the video. Your CAI and tune will help, but I don't think it will be enough.

V6 creeps at the end.
V6 creeps at the end.
Sure does! :bigthumbsup
I remember watching that vid and wondering what would happen if the V6 had the 3.31 rear. They also launched from idle, which given the 3.7's lack of low end torque, gives the GT an immediate advantage. Still a pretty close race, which says a lot for our 3.7's.

On a side note....I tied one on with an '06-'07 GT a few weeks ago from a 50 roll, and it got ugly real quick...for him. I would be willing to bet he thinks twice about picking a fight with a V6 now. Best part was the car had temp tags on it..:hihi:
It is on facebook. I am trying to get it on youtube as we speak. The GT in the 40mph roll had me by less than a car length the entire time and once we hit 80mph i started to creep and i was a bumper ahead when my limiter kicked in and it looks like he hit nitrous in the video hahahaha
Z28th-

I saw that video before, and I definitely don't think he can shift the MT very well. He's only had one other MT mustang for about a year and it was a 96 GT. He rode me in the '10 and it had a bunch of torque and pull, but he was shifting VERY slowly, as in at least a second or two from the time he pushed the clutch and the time the next gear hooked up. So the ride was very jerky. Maybe he DOES know how to shift well and he was just doing that to try and show off some torque. I rode him in mine and he commented several times on how quick the auto was shifting and how surprisingly fast it was.

If we had 3.73's with a 93 tune and CAI, would it be no contest against 2010 GT's?

From the looks of the OP's experience and the very end of that video, I'd assume we would beat them to 130 or so with 2.73's even.
Experience is key with the races i always do. Everyone who rides along with me comments on how fast i shift and how precise i am with everything i do down to the nitty gritty launches. I cant wait to get real tires and launch, want the front end to lift at some point. I am a ways off from that but with how squishy the stock suspension is i am surprised we dont torque up one stock. EVERYONE says my car looks like it would pull wheels an inch or so off the ground when i drop gears on a pull and gun it or from a HARD launch with my feathering the clutch and punching it with how squishy it is. WAY TO MUCH TRAVEL STOCK!

If you look at my exhaust videos with a couple launches in the cab i am shifting moderately fast but not like i do when i am in competition. I race to win... :)
when i was stock with only a cai i hanged with a 2010 manual GT , with my 2.73 gears the car did great , all were roll races

I think if the V6 had the 3.31's it would have been much closer, especially on the initial takeoff.

A local Army recruiter jumped on me several months ago in his automatic '05-'09 GT. It had loud exhaust, but don't know if he had other mods. We went from a 20 roll to about 80 one time and a dead stop to about 80 the other time. It wasn't even close. I pulled instantly and steadily the entire time. He never would get back beside me after that.

If he has trouble getting off the line and/or shifts as you describe then he might get his feelings hurt!! With 3.73's in our cars it really evens things up, especially from a roll where the GT's torque advantage doesn't come into play as much, plus our trans gearing is much better.

My son (FoolnYa) pulled his left front wheel with 100% stock suspension on MT ET Street bias ply tires with 3.73's, midpipe, CAI and tune.

I agree our cars will do better from a roll.
Don 't sell a geared 4.6 SN197 short. They have a great midrange hit. Taken to the track where variables and the ability to tell stories are both minimized, you'll get your answer.

That hoary video was quite the 3.7 sales tool in its day, wasn't it?
I have raced a couple 4.6 05-09 and I beat them handily with my cai exhaust and 3.31 gears. The top end on them is nothing compared to the 3.7 but the launch if i dont break stand it is closer. but still it isnt a contest... im not sure if they have a lsd or not but they spin hard off the line. they have a nice amount of torque down low. The v6 car pulls much harder with 3.31 gears and if I get the launch right it's a win. Most 05-09 gts run 14 flat in the quarter mile

Stock for stock I think it's a drivers race. Add gears and etc...to the cars, then things start to change. I haven't had the pleasure to go up against a 2010 gt. I have on a few other s197 gt's and one stock 98 cobra. The cobra was the best race, until we hit the upper rpms. The cobra gassed out, it came down to the new v6 has better gearing. But I had my ass handed to me by a 03 gt. it was a real nice sleeper, mild exhaust sound. Looked completely stock, but it wasn't. Had some humble pie that night. :bigthumbsup
Only way to find out is to run um, and if you really like to race loosing is not that big a problem! It really sound like it will be pretty close. If he comes out of the hole to hot [spins to much] you'll likely have em.
