I believe that max a/c is AUTO air recirculation. That's how it was in previous years that didn't have the independent air recirculate button.

Just to clarify I understand it turns on automatically with max a/c. My issue is it turns off recirculation without operator intervention. I expect it to stay on if I don't touch the HVAC controls. This is how my '11 gt behaved and I would expect the '14 to work the same. This is normal operation.....
Both were base models, so its the single zone manual climate controls. My '12 GT switches off recirc as well after a bit. Maybe it is a dual zone, automatic climate thing. Did your 11 have DZ and auto climate?
When I have the Recirculated air button activated, with max a/c on air recirculation will just turn itself off without me touching anything. It goes into the dealer tomorrow for an oil change and have them check out the HVAC.
Does anyone know what would cause this? Has anyone else had this issue.

So I couldn't get the recirculation to turn off automatically to today. In the summer it will turn off after 5 minutes.
Have you guys been able to address this with your Ford Dealer yet? If so, what were the findings? My 2014 does the same.
I’m happy to get this documented for you as well, ccarney. Please PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number.I had it in this weekend, but the issue wasn't repeated. Hopefully, they have it on record so I am covered under warranty if/when it happens again.
It was easily repeatable last summer (should have recorded it with the camera phone when it was doing it, lesson learned), but I haven't driven the car all winter never mind use the a/c.
It will go back to the dealer when it happens again.
