2014 GT X-Pipe Exhaust Leak -- Gaskets? Sealants?

3915 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  50blackout
Greetings. I installed the Ford Racing X-Pipe onto my 2014 Mustang GT and have a small exhaust leak at both sides of the X-Pipe where the "ball and cup" attach to the stock cat downpipes. This is a known issue for this particular X-Pipe. Does anyone know of a gasket, sealant, or exhaust tape that would help eliminate this leak? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Did you properly torque the factory ball clamps?

It is possible that you may need to loosen and adjust the piping to eliminate a leak at the ball clamps.

I don't know of any other materials to seal the leak other than maybe some muffler repair tape.
I had the same problem.

Solution: Copper Gasket Sealant around the ball joints (a lot of it), then wrap it with exhaust tape and put the clamp back on.

Mine has been leak free for so far a year.

No problem, let us know how it turns out!!
I used Permatex 80335 and it worked perfectly! The other trick is to make sure the clamps are perfectly aligned over the connection; this seems obvious but it's harder to implement since it can rotate somewhat on the joint as you tighten it.
Very nice!!! that looks like a good sealant you used.
