Hey guys,

I tried to search to find out what the premium model has that the base model doesn't but all I can find is a list of specs for both vehicles completely separated that has so many things it would be like swimming in the ocean to figure it out.

Of course if I have to do that.... but I'm wondering if anyone knows some webpage or something where the differences are already stated?

I know for instance that the premium package comes with the premium instrument panel which has the LCD screen in the middle, and a lot of folks have been swapping them into base models and reprogramming the computer.. And I know the door sills where the MUSTANG letters light up.

I would just like to know a complete list of differences so I can see what's out there. Maybe eventually turn my base model into a premium model.

I have a 2014 V6 manual by the way. I'm not sure if there's any difference between V6 base/premium vs. GT base/premium other than the engine obviously.

Hopefully this document will help you out, it lists what was standard and what was available for the models. There are some differences

Thanks! Seems like the only difference is the instrument cluster, the controls on the steering wheel for said cluster, and ambient lighting and also the door panels and some other things that are trivial to upgrade with aftermarket mods. (ie. wheels, etc.)

Is it possible to buy the parts for the ambient lighting to get it in the base model? This includes the door sills which I actually had in my old Mustang but never connected them to power.

I'm sure some of the parts could be installed, not sure how easily. The Premium also came with the Track Apps in the cluster

Another way to find out, is to Google the brochure, it has all of the options listed. I'm pretty sure the V6 base vs premium is the same as GT base vs premium.

I think if you want the Premium features, you are much better off buying a premium, rather than attempting to add them later.

Leather vs cloth is a notable difference too. You also get woofers in the doors with much nicer door panels as well(aluminum/chrome accents and stitched inserts) with the Premium. The Premium also gets aluminum dash bezels whereas the Base is just black plastic. The Premium had a lot of other options available to it that you couldn't get on the Base like heated seats, NAV, Shaker audio system, etc.
You'll realistically never be adding all the ambient lighting to a Base that the Premium had. There is a Ford official accessory kit that gives you footwell lighting and a cupholder light but not the door panel lights and whatnot and the kit isn't as nice as the factory ambient lights are. There was a thread a few weeks ago about that which I posted the kit part # in. Ford used to have the light up sills as an accessory too but no longer makes those. However, you can just buy used factory Premium sills and easily tap into the wiring.

Yeah. I can always get the stuff I can't get new probably used. Like I can buy the door panels and stuff. I actually bought new door panels for my 2008 Mustang because I had changed the entire interior from gray to black.

It's a nice option to buy a premium if you want to but sometimes you just can't get what you want or you just don't have a choice. (The 2008 I had the opportunity to buy it for $5000 in 2015, and I took it, even though it was gray kind of nasty looking interior and automatic.. This one I bought coz it was the most economical choice, was a manual and had no Carfax issues / no active recalls / etc.) .. I dunno how much more a premium is..

The only thing I regret on this one now is not buying a GT lol. But I figure I'll build it up put a ProCharger in it and when I'm ready I'll trade it in for a 5.0. Since the last manual car I drove was a 180hp VW Passat this is a huge step up in performance, and I feel like definitely maybe a GT might be too much for me right now in terms of my driving skill.
