Hey FiTz,

Great Question!

On my previous 2012 GT, I ran the Flowmaster Outlaw Axle-Back paired with a JBA H Pipe and loved it!

The H pipe will allow you to install it both cat-less and re-using your factory cats depending on if you are looking to stay street legal and depending on how loud you want to go.

I would highly recommend it.

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions!

how well do the stock pipes flow? I just put a borla axleback on my car and was thinking about completing the exhaust up to the cats as well but don't want the car any louder LOL. The stinger is almost borderline too loud for me.

Would it make sense to just stay with stock pipes or is there some actual gain to be had performance wise?

Not to seem ignorant to the situation, but what the point really of adding an h-pipe after the cats. I could see a gain with no cats at all, but in my case that would make my car WAY to loud. The Roush axlebacks are pretty loud the way they are. Im just wondering if you guys net any more HP from doing an "after cat" x or h pipe. I really dont see how you could since your just basically replacing the stock pipe thats there and thats not restrictive right? Or am I missing something. Im interested in this too, thats why im chiming in, not trying to dissuade anyone pony.jpg

Stock setup is with an H-Pipe. Adding an aftermarket 3inch After-Cat H-Pipe would be pretty pointless. It'd open the exhaust flow up a little bit compared to stock, but your gains would be minimal and not worth the money, and the sound won't even change much. Adding an After-Cat X-Pipe would still be pointless as far as gains go, but you'll get a different sound than stock if that's what you're after. You are correct in your assumption that an H/X pipe is really only worth the money if you're going offroad (no cats).

I can't speak from experience on the sound with Roush ABs, but the overall consensus tends to be that Roush ABs + offroad x/h pipe is borderline unbearable.

Ya that's what ive thought. I don't really know anyone with the Roush axle backs and an offroad h or x, in my area that I could listen to, but I would imagine it would be pretty dang loud because my wife says she can hear me coming down the street when im at the top of it the way it is. LOL Oh well, I love the sound of them, I wouldn't change them for anything.

Im used to building fox bodies, where full exhaust would actually make a nice difference, or at least it felt like it by the butt-o-meter.
