I want to keep the origional 260 v8 but the manual 3 speed has got to go. will a big block top loader bolt onto my bellhousing? I know a late model 5 speed wont bolt up, but someone somewhere has to make an adapter plate or sfi bellhousing that will allow this swap. any idea where I could find one?

thanks

A toploader 4speed will bolt right up but to put in a t5 places sell a plate you bolt and modify to your original bellhousing or mOderdriveline.com makes a special bellhousing for 5bolt block to a t5 trans, only thing with using the stock bellhousing is you have to use the z bar system and can't use a cable clutch

Is that the early T-10? I was looking at adding a 4-spd to my 260 as well since my 3-spd is long gone so i need to buy a trans either way.

Most of the Ford 4-speeds I have seen had both sets of mounting holes, for both 5-bolt and 6-bolt designs.

The T5 is the 5-speed manual used in the Fox-body Mustang.

Um, there is a special T5 adapter plate just for 5-bolt folks. Glazier/Nolan calls it p/n G06660.
