289 2v Carb suggestions

So if you could do it all over again, knowing then what you know now...

What carb would you replace a stock Ford 2v with? It's a stock 289 without headers, that will not see any engine modification other than an ignition update.

The car will be a daily driver- one day I'll replace the intake and add some more barrels to the top of the engine (when I rebuild it), but I'm thinking off keeping it simple for now.

Does anyone have an opinion of Pony Carburetors? They seem a bit pricey at $410, without a core. My 2v was scorched in the engine fire, so I don't expect a whole lot of core credit. I also don't think that I can rebuild this one (nor should I).

For those of you following the rebirth if the phoenix, the budget was been made, was approved by the appropriation's committee, and now it's time to start ordering parts!

They are great people to deal with! They have been around for a long time now. They were in PA. Then made the move to Beautiful NM. I had a 4100 on my 67 289,from them and it worked flawlessly! At the time it was their best one. Give Jon and the gang a call.
