Do 289 & 302 use the same block? Can a 289 be stroked to a 331 or 347 like a 302?I have a 1966 289 that I would like to do something with like stroke it or just rebuild it.I heared the older blocks are better than the newer 5.0's

They're the same bore diameter and deck height, question is how deep are the cylinder skirts. But you could probably use it.

The older blocks do seem to be stronger than the later blocks, the content of the metal was different, making for a stronger casting.

i have a 1968 289 it is a strong motor and there are the same block you can out a 302 heads directly on every part that i looked up says it will fit a 289 and 302
