The 302 would probably be easier to find the neccesary parts. However the 351 wouldn't be to difficult. Personal Preference

I'm doing a 4 to 8 swap in my 85 lx. i'm able to get my hands on a 302 and a 351. which of the two should i decide to put into my project car?

interchangable parts
in terms of installation, there shouldn't be many problems with the 5.8 over the 5.0? do i need to get different parts that i would normally need to get if i was going to put the 302 in there?

It won't necessarily be that much more difficult, but the aftermarket for parts is bigger for the 302, and yes you will need different parts to install a 351 than you would to install a regular 5.0.
you will only need a few diff parts for the 351, its all up to you. you'll def feel a diff in torque and horsepower vs the 302 but that all depends on the mods your doing to the engine. good luck
