Hello guys. I bought a used late 80s roller block in good shape. I plan on taking it.030 over and buying stage 3 motorsports forged 347 stroker kit. I am really lost on a great top end for this motor far as cam heads carb etc. any suggestions welcome. Thanks guys.

Trick Flow or AFR heads. Edelbrock intake...call Comp for a good rec on a cam once you know the rest of the build
if you haven't done anything to the block, sale it and get a 351w block a much better platform to build on and you can get 408 cube with about the same cash:winks
Well see the stroker kit has a couple options on compression.
If I have 58cc heads my compression would be 10.80. If I went with 64cc my compression would be 10.05. Which is better?
more compression = more power...easy enough...my 427w is 12:1
Ok cool. So the 10.80 it is. With a pretty much compression ratio of 11:1 can I still run pump gas?
with aluminum heads, a good cooling system, and the correct cam. no sweat....
Thanks for all the advice everybody

When you say a "forged kit" are you talking about just forged pistons and rods, or a forged crank too?
The crank is just cast steel that's in the kit

Good man. There are some people that want to put forged steel cranks in HO blocks. This is a complete waste, imho. A cast crank will hold more than that block will.
Is it possible to get around 450 to the wheel with this stroker kit some AFR 205 58cc heads a good cam and intake msd and 5 speed tranny?
possible in i really GOOD build. better heads, the perfect cam, a little more compression, and a few other details.
So if I'm looking for that kind of power should I look for a different route other than the 347?
I really wish Rick would chime in on this thread...
something you can't figure out pete....if you don't understand something, don't be afraid, just ask.
The thing Mark is that you are a very intimidating man :winks Just teasing.

Well 450 to the wheels is possible but you must plan it from the beginning. As I am sure Mark knows there is power to be had in the lower end so speak with you engine builder.

Also are you going carb or fuel infected?

Like Mark said the right heads, intake and cam will make your dreams come true just like Disney World.

It will be a combination of parts here that will net you the results that you want.

Sorry about guys, I completely missed the red part here:

450 to the wheel
I was just thinking I don't think 450 HP from a 347 with a decent top end is that had, I've seen quite a few. Now to the wheels... That's a different story.
His combo sounds like ~450 crank HP to me... But that's from me... Okay, I'll go back to minding my own business now :yup:
