I got a block from a friend the other day and he claims the guy he got it from said it was a Cobra Jet block, how can I confirm this?

Just remember that Ford mix parts up back then, I guess to keep it simple during production. So a block that was to be a 4 bolt main may as well just be a 2 bolt. You would need to remove the oil pan and look to confirm whether it is a 2 bolt or 4 bolt.
